Finished my first race yesterday. The heat was incredible. The support around the course was great expecially along the beach. (Some great bikinis to keep you going. Had a great swim. Never cramp so much going up that climb. Could smell the breaks coming down the other side. Surface generally in perfect condition except a little patch just beyond the edge of the descent.

Did 12:17 over all which I am dead happy considering it was my first and had that climb.

On a lighter note, collecting my bike from transition to drop back to (ship my try bike - will be using them again, great service), my Garmin Edge 1000 was stolen from the bike (bike stats all gone from the bike section). They claimed they had video surveillance but not near my bike. Which was weird as I didn't tell them where it was. Also, the response back from the girl in the blue t-shirt when leaving with the bikes said "you could take another one and no one could prove it" my response was "I'm not a scum bag"'

Anyway, great race and organisation overall but I have no come back on the Garmin. They said they can't help me.

Was great watching the race here yesterday. They got very lucky with the weather. Rain all last week, and I woke up to a thunderstorm at 6am. Miserable looking out there now!

I'm hoarse from cheering on all the irish! I've about 3000 pics to go through when I get back home, will stick up a few of the Irish guys then.

    Wasn't there a 6:30 bike there though?

Think 6.30 was his cumulative race time, not bike time.

There were three people, one guy with a beard and two women with Irish flags, stationed near the start/finish/midway point/quarter of the way through on the run course. Was one of them you? I've no idea who it was or who you are, but if it was thanks a million for the support. It was one of the few occasions I felt remotely human all day. Without intending to be a soppy bolloxs, it meant something.

That was me and my boyfriend and another friend. We were making such a racket we recruited a few spaniards into the Irish supporters club. Such a fun day - we were there since 7am - and didn't leave till 11pm! I did an IM last year and my sis stood in the same spot on the run for 4 hours - I passed her 8 times and if she had left her post an any stage I wouldn't have finished so I know how much it helps! We were there for Sligo Tri club but it was great to see so many familiar faces from back home. Even got a few waves and smiles from Eimear! It's definitely more fun watching but almost as exhausting!! Congrats to all of you - it was a tough course!

Afraid not me,(saw the guys you mention above as we were heading home)
we were moving around a bit, spent some time at the 1st aid station about 5km into run, another bit by the Germans at the bend where the route joined the beach, another bit up the beach run, again around the straight by the finish line, and finally just where at the bend where you turned from the beach onto the run along docks.

We were trying to read the names from race belts and shout before everyone went by, so if you've vague memories of 2 weirdos shouting your name, that's probably us! ðŸ˜

Edit it was the top times from that site! Sorry added the women had just added the men because I know there are at least 4 boardsies on it. Can't see an option to filter by country on the ironman site. Will add the rest of the Irish if I figure out how to do it.

Yeah, given "that sites" habit of changing results to find an agenda.....

Ironman sites allow filtering by country after a few days. Up on Mallorca site now, but you'd have to search by cat and country.
