Eircom, a disaster from day 1

    We just moved to a house in Wicklow. Eircom came out and set up phone line. We had been promised 12mb speed but when we did a speed test we had 0.22 speed which was completely useless. Eircom let us out of the contract after going back through their phonecalls. We asked them to leave the phone line active so we could go with a different provider, however they have done something to the line now that means we can't get internet with anyone apart from Eircom. Sky say there is a block on the line. This is the second time this has happened to us with Eircom and every single customer service rep we talk to are completely useless, and can't/wont do anything for us. We are also waiting on a refund from them from our old house for months now. We had cancelled our service with them when our contract ended yet they still took 140 euro the following month, any efforts to get this back have been a disaster. Complaints have been sent in via their website and on the phone to which we get no reply. They have been a complete disaster and the customer service has been disgraceful. There's no way we want to go back to them yet they've made it impossible for anyone else to provide us with home phone and broadband.

    Hi op,
    Sky use eircom lines so any DSL provider won't be able to do better than the speed test you've done,

    All providers are murder to get money back from,
    Hope it gets sorted soon

    Just to let everyone know, we are still yet to receive our refund from Eircom and have had more trouble with them since. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Next stop, com reg.
