Not allowing lodgements of coins, even when inside proper coin bags?

The weirdest thing happened today, my wife went to lodge 225 euros worth of coins (0.50, 1 and 2), all counted, marked and separated properly in coin bags, and the bank staff told her he couldn't accept it, as they were only accepting coin lodgement on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The bank was empty, there was 1 other person only in the queue, and it just sounded like he couldn't bother to do his work. Is this standard procedure, and if so, could anyone please try and explain why? I mean, it was not a mess of coins, but properly organized bags meant to be lodged in one single account.

Yeah I saw the link before posting this questions here, but it talks about "night coin lodgements" so it doesn't really apply...

while the article wording looks like it doesn't apply it's actually for all coin lodgements.  Even more frustrating as a small business with coin lodgments. when you do go in on a Tuesday or Thursday the queue is out the door with all the other people doing coin lodgements! We've complained, they don't care....

Thanks, at least now it's clarified that they couldn't care less for both people and business equally...

We (customers) need to understand that it takes an enormous amount of effort to pick up a bag of coins and place it on the scale (to see if the value/weight) matches. I mean, some of those scales are 5, perhaps 6 feet away from their chairs! Oh, the humanity!!!
