Play Store Gift Cards

Hey guys,

I've a quick question regarding the play store, one of the girls in work here got her son a tablet and wants to download minecraft for him. It's 5.49 in the play store but she doesn't want to add her debit card to the account so we thought it might be easiest to get a gift card for 10 euro but can't seem to find any? I've never had to buy anything in the play store so i'm not too sure what options there are.

They are not available here because of our lack of Google movies. Try one of the top up credit cards : O2,3v etc. Ideal if some one gives her son money he can top it up even have an app to check it's balance

I think google and developers are losing out to apple big time here. I'm getting that asked a lot with the run up to christmas and many of my customers buying tablets.
Even Microsoft can get their act together on this!

You can buy apps with unused phone credit on Three network. I'm not sure about other networks.

I contacted google and asked them if you can get them in ireland and this was their response

"Yes we do offer gifts for Google play in Ireland. You would have to purchase it through our online gift card department or at a local retailer that may offer them as well."

I asked them where to buy them in store and where to buy them online

"I don't have access to which stores would sell them. As for where on the web page, I am routing your case to a gift card specialist so they can further assist with how to do that."

I'm awaiting contact from the gift card specialist!

They probably just can not tell the difference between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

If it's available in Germany and France how can they not just release it in the rest of the Eurozone. It's the same currency. I get why things like Google Movies and that aren't here yet because they have to negotiate licensing deals but there is nothing stopping them releasing gift cards here. They make a great present for kids and parents love them because they don't have to tie their credit card to the account just so the kid can purchase a game or a song. Well at least with Apple's stuff they do.

If you buy a gift card in the UK, can the amount still be applied to an Irish gmail/play store account?
