Sounds like Jose's camp were being awkward but he himself was being cooperative. Doesn't sound shady at all, just like a bit of a clusterf*ck all round.

Either way he passed the test so trying to imply he was doing anything illegal is a bit silly.

The whole routine sounds exactly like the doping routine of cyclists in the 90's and early 00's.

Basically have your trainer and management delay as much as possible. It's almost a play by play of what Tyler Hamilton describes in his book "The Secret Sauce".

Something like oral testosterone only has a half life of 6-8 hours. He didn't manage to get a sample out of Aldo for over 36 hours.

When Aldo was finally ready to hand it over, he spills the sample and has to wait even longer.

Tbh, there is no concrete evidence that he is doping but I hope USADA catch Aldo unawares next time and strong arm into giving over the sample when asked.

He did have a permit, he was released and allowed to conduct the test. (after 24 hours)

It wasn't just him who tried it was also a local Brazilian Doping Control Officer who was met with similar strong arm tactics even though both men were contracted by NSAC.

I was hoping for a Jan 2nd date as I'll be in Vegas. I just hope to Christ that card isn't a Rousey headline

She is fighting Tate for a second time in the UFC and third overall I think they've made it obvious enough thats gonna serve as co main with Werdum Cain rematch also a co main either or on McGregor Aldo or Weidman Rockhold in the main event slots.

Where have they said it will be a triple title fight card?
That'll be some card if it goes ahead.

    Not a triple I meant;

Either Aldo-Mcg co main Werdum Cain or RR Tate

Weidman Rockhold co main Werdum Cain or RR Tate

    Both PPVs in Dec

SevereMMA posted it I think via someone from Bloody elbow.

UPDATE: Being reported that Ronda is 100% NOT on the McGregor card UFC 194 December 12 (not originally in UFC 2015 schedule supposed to be a fight night).

McGregor vs Aldo will not happen in Dallas, no chance. I still think Dana is strong arming the MGM. The stadium shows just aren't massively profitable for the UFC, it's a fact.
It's not often I'm right so I might aswell milk this one...

Excuse my stupidity, but how do they not make as much money? Genuine question. Is it because not as many will want to go to Dallas as Vegas and not as many ticket sales??

No, MGM holds 16kish, the Dallas Stadium holds 5 or 6 times that. It's the cost of putting on an event in the stadium, and the lower ticket prices to fill a stadium that make it more profitable to hold it in Vegas

Purely from a logistics point of view. I remember when UFC 129 was on, on one of Dana White's video blogs, he went through all the added costs and hidden challenges that a stadium show throws up, and there's a reason they haven't done one since. I reckon they'll obviously get more money in the gate but the profit margins in Las Vegas are much much higher.

    You mean Dallas?

Seems this news has flown relatively under the radar. Not half as much fuss as I would have thought. Was looking at flights and there are a number of cheap routes, so thinking of booking the trip.

Part and parcel of the fight business, but it's a bad state of affairs that a large part of my hesitation is whether Aldo will show or not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,099 ✭✭✭The Ayatolla

I reckon it's safe to book?

Well the fight is confirmed. Dana himself said it. So in that way, it's as safe as it's going to be to book.

Whether or not both men stay healthy is another thing!
