It can't be anything about a title fight in Ireland etc, not before his fight this weekend. New sponsorship deal? Movie contract? Porn contract after his 'go deep' line yesterday? That t-shirt could sell.

    Siver out, Aldo in!

Im guessing a Reebok sponsorship, haven't seen a Dethrone Walkout shirt for Conor.

Yeah more than likely a new sponsor id say. Either that or Steven Segal will be cornering him! :D

JK said its nothing. Just a scratch that didnt need stitches or glue or anything. Its only his nose anyway. Shouldnt cause any problems in the fight.

This senator has obviously been misguided my her friend "the expert". Fair play to her for putting her hands up and saying she was wrong to jump the gun.
And most of all, fair play to Tubs for handling it so well. He may not be an expert on MMA or a diehard fan but he certainly knows enough about it to respect it as a sport. Shows how far the media has come in the 5 years since UFC 93.

Good thing Ray D'arcy is off the air at the mo or it could have been very different interview :D

They deleted the tweet, as far as I can see.

So if he is a reebok athlete now, does that make him the third ufc fighter to get an official deal after Jones and Honda?

Edit: just saw his update :D

"Congratulations to Reebok on netting the biggest signature in the game. ‪#‎StayReady‬"

    http://mmajunkie.com/2015/01/white-aldo-vs-mcgregor-would-be-biggest-fight-of-year-but-ireland-not-guaranteed
“There’s no question he could fill a stadium; the question is what makes the most sense for the business,” Fertitta told MMAjunkie. “That’s obviously a pay-per-view fight. It needs to be in the right time zone. We would need to get variances from the city. It’s just too soon to talk about that because the event would be taking place so late in the evening.

So what do yas reckon? Does that rule out Dublin?

Whats the latest an event would be allowed to finish in Croke Park?

Variances from the city - what exactly does that mean?

Given the history of the Croke Park residents, chances of a late licence for an event there would be around 0%.

They may or may not not need a license, and Croker isn't the only option any more in Dublin

The planning permission has it at 11pm curfew

Surely the Aviva would be a better venue than Croker anyway. 60k fans would still beat the 55k UFC attendance record, and the stands would be closer to the cage.

Chances of allowing a midnight fight at the Aviva?

The Aviva would be better I think too.

It also has an 11pm curfew but chances of an extension must be better than Croke Park (as anywhere on earth has a better chance given CP's residents association and recent history of battles about events there)

Wasn't aware of the 11pm curfew (Can't find the PP decision online either).
But I was referring to the act that Croker Park can hold up to 3 special events per year without needing to apply for a license. They just need to submit an event management plan to DCC.

Personally I think there is pretty much 0% chance of either venue going to look for a license past the curfew, it would set a precedent that would be a nightmare for them down the line for concerts and other events. The amount of hassle as it is trying to get planning permission, its simply not going to happen that it runs past 11pm. The only way it happens in Dublin is during normal hours which doesnt suit the viewership in the states, the call is whether or not the UFC would prefer to fill the stadium here and have the European fighters itching to be on the card or move it to Vegas and sell it out there along with the huge number of PPV's. They have a lot invested in Conor and hes their golden boy of the moment so thats the best thing going in terms of chances of it being on here.

Going to be a sold out event either way but would obviously be great to get it here and have another title defence on the night and a host of European fighters on the card. Roll on Sunday first off!

According to the DCC events management guidebook, an application for a proposed event over 5,000 needs to be advertised in papers at least 16 weeks before the event. Which means by the end of the month/start of February we may know more details of the UFCs plan.

I know every concert I've been to in the Point/RDS/Croker had to be finished by 11pm and I've seen articles about fines when it goes over.
When I saw Pearl Jam in the point years ago the lights came on at 11pm even though they were still playing.
It does be down to the DCC agreement though.
I don't remember ever hearing of events going on after 11pm.

Its already been spoke about with Croke Park and they confirmed that they would love to host the event but should it happen then the curfew would need to be 11pm.

"McKenna said the UFC have enquired about a date for this May, and he also confirmed that any such event would need to end prior to 11pm — a curfew which would be put in place by Dublin City Council."
