Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks for posting this deal-Ordered it and waiting for delivery. Pressie for other half whose phone is ( not smart) and on its last legs. Also his iPod not doing too well these days so hoping to get a mircosd card and use it for music.

Any tips on what to look out with the Microsd card?

Also can you listen to radio without being in wifi?

    Thanks for any help.

Radio works with headphones as the aeriel can work without wi fi.

With regard to Micro sd Essentially, the higher the number, the faster the card. A Class 2 SD card has a write speed of about 2MB/s, a class 4 SD card is about 4 Mb/s, and so on. I normally go with class 6 and find them fine for most things.

Will Tesco sim work straight out of the packet in an unlocked phone so I can get the verification code when I sign up online? Found my other sim had 'died'.

Yes, that's exactly what I did, got the text message verification code and signed up online for the €20 off deal...

The gods of BA are conspiring against me,stuck in the sim & phone now says Tesco Mobile but still no message:confused:

I'm fit to throw the phone, sim and anything else to do with it out the window.

It's quite straightforward - I always have 3-4 spare SIMs from Meteor (I am getting them when buying my monthly top-up), and 2-3 from O2 (they are sending them for free - just to sign on the website) in case I want to deal with Meteor.
First after I unpack new SIM and put it in my spare mobile I try to call it from my "main" telephone. In fairness some older SIMs doesn't work and that is good check. Then I use it to do "move the number" deal. Simple.

Just try again, with a new sim it can take a while for all the messaging gateways to get the route to a new phone.

Sorted, stupid sim holder had a different phone number on it than the one printed on the booklet.Tried the one on the booklet & it was correct.

how would this compare to an S2?

It's a great little phone, I love the look of it. Sure it has its bad points but for €29 theres not much ye can be complaining about :) There are so many Vodafone apps preloaded though...

Sreen is poor, camera is poor, battery life is poor but its about 1/6 of the price of an s2, if the camera isn't too important moto g is cheaper and better inevery way than an s2:

On GSMarena it says the Vodafone Smart 3 takes a Mini Sim which is untrue as it takes a full sized regular sim.

    mini sim = regular sim

On GSMarena it says the Vodafone Smart 3 takes a Mini Sim which is untrue as it takes a full sized regular sim.

full size sim is the size of credit card

mini sim is what we know as ordinary sim

then there is micro sim that is about half the size of mini sim with few mm plastic around metal contacts

and nano sim with metal contacts only

    now back to the studio:

rooting is easy - turn on usb debugging and use this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386677
after that install superSU from google play as method above is installing only su executable in sbin

anyone has any luck finding working recovery?

Yeah the €29 price was part of their "12 Deals Of Christmas" promotion. €39 is still really good I think.

Quick question - will this phone support tethering straight out of the box or will vodafone have rendered such functionality off limits ?

    Sorry, this one

Edit: now seeing their live chat is offline, so hopefully doesn't slow the process too much

I wouldn't bother ordering from these guys, ordered three days ago no code yet, no response through ebay, live chat or direct email. Haven't had to wait that long for a code in ten years. And yes I've checked my spam folder etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 303 ✭✭slavedave

I used them and got the code within a couple of hours. Much faster than sellers I have used to unlock other phones in the past (up to a day to get an unlock code). Send them an email on their contact address and see what progress you make. All the best.

Did you use the live chat function? As I said, filled out form, paid, used live chat and was given code straight away. Whole process 2 mins max.

I'm trying to buy one of these phones and get €20 off by switching a Tesco Mobile number, but every time I enter the Tesco Mobile number I see the following message:
We're sorry. The number entered is already a Vodafone number. We cannot switch this number to Vodafone.

Anyone seen this and worked around it. The number is definitely a Tesco Mobile number and not Vodafone.

all I got left on card..

I didn't have any problems like that when I ported a new Tesco Mobile sim. How do you know it's Tesco mobile? Are you saying it just because it starts with 089 or are you 100% sure it's never ported (or is a new sim card).

It is a new SIM card, freshly bought from a Tesco shop yesterday and then enabled.

    Cheers

In that case I'd say it's probably best to give Vodafone a ring, I doubt if there would be any workaround you could do yourself.

There's a slot beside the headphone socket where you take the surround off from the top of the phone first then the back panel comes off.Just use your fingernail to pop it off.

Am actually very impressed with the phone's battery life in stand by. I have my second phone number on this phone, and hardly use it, but battery is still at 65% after 3 days. Can't complain, my previous spare was going flat every couple of days and I had to keep remembering to charge.

Yes - showing €24 for each of the two phones I purchased.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32 Burrow_Ursidae

One of the best bargain alerts ever.

Really nice phone. As I said it runs smoother than my Huawei y300.

The unlock code worked perfectly as well.

By the way you can get this deal in Bricks and Mortar Vodafone for 39 if you bring them in your old number and switch.

    Yes, on mine it says
    "04 Dec 2013 Vodafone Ireland Pending €24.00"
Should expect the cashback around May :P
