Kitting out a new Camper - Present suggestions

Hi All,

My parents recently bought a Fiat Ducato campervan, which is completely empty. There are some great ideas on here for kitting it out from top to bottom, which we'll probably use as a shopping list.

Buy initially, we want to get them a kind of starter kit as a christmas present.

What would you all recommend? - budget between €400 and €500.

1st time poster in this neck of the woods, complete novice to campervans, any help would be great!

Take it out for a test camp. You can answer that question pretty fast yourself. As needs must

Get lots of little baskets for the items in the overhead cupboards, otherwise when they open the cupboard they'll fall out and damage something or someone.
Maybe a Cadac BBQ as a significant gift.
Electrical hook up cables aren't cheap either.

Cookware, delph and cutlery. This all costs a fair bit and is essential. Your campervan needs pretty much everything you have in your kitchen at home, there are so many little things that you can forget - tin openers, wine openers, spatulas, oven dishes (if they have an oven) etc etc.

You could do a lot in Ikea or TK Max

A kettle for the gas stove, 2ltr.
Plastic plates, bowls, cups.... ones you can sling in the dish washer when you get home
Knives and forks....
Containers for breakfast cereals, tea bags... remember they could live in the camper.

Out door table and chairs argos stuff is a bit over prices but along the lines of these.

Calling it a hook-up lead is just asking to be ripped off. It's fairly standard outdoor cable on 16amp connections.

Forgive my ignorance, is that the only way you'll get standard electrical appliances working in the Camper?

It connects the vehicle to the mains supply. Most people also use an inverter to run mains appliances from batteries.

It's the best way, if you use an inverter you need very big batteries. On a campsite the trip is set low, 6A I think so you can't run to many things. It's stoll lots of power for a TV, Fridge, charging the camper battery and a camper van kettle. To honest I just use gas and wild camp.
