You have to get the 2 Kill Assist Ribbons in the same round as getting 10 kills in the Metro. Ribbon progress resets after each round as well so both have to be unlocked in a single round. It sounds easy enough, 10 kills and 10 assists..........**** me it's annoyingly awkward though

Ok , jump on a Metro server , high ticket if needs be , grab any LMG , lay down covering fire , job done .

PS: if I got to try out the F2000 before I did it I wouldn't have bothered ;)

Ah it's not that bad. I've always had a soft spot for that gun in other FPS' so I'm probably a bit biased but it's pretty good in close/medium range. Decent rate of fire and hip fire spread.

Oh and most importantly it looks awesome.

Ha ha, no custom server options on console either :) I've had numerous games with 8 or 9 assists and can't seem to get that last one before the tickets run out. I've also NEVER played on the Russian played so I'm constantly trying to push up the escalators. I reckon I'd have easily unlocked it if I got a chance to defend the B flag as opposed to attacking it.
Except for the UCAV(cannot fly jets at all) I'm intent on unlocking all the guns and gadgets etc even if I never use them. I want the AWS and SR-2 today

What am I doing in the PS4 thread and how did I get here , probably just clicked on it so it wouldn't be showing as unread :)

I swore I wouldn't do that this time and would only play with the weapons I liked but as I started to bore a little of the game I Started trying and unlocking the other weapons and gadgets .

Kids in bed, update Battlefield, ready to play Naval Strike.........then this.... IMG_20140325_110902_zpsqhf1bhk9.jpg

Yay, thanx EA. I heard Naval Strike won't be released on PC today, quality issues!

I got it fairly handy Paul from the bottom of the escalators, go prone near the plants or benches then just grenade spam mini's and use an LMG and keep her lit. Once you have the ten assists, to get the ten kills from the bottom of the escalators, go around the back, stick some C4 in the lift, send it upstairs, wait 30 seconds or so, then pull the trigger...rinse and repeat!

Yeah I might have to just camp it until I get the assists first. The kills are never the problem. The patch on the 25th is going to increase the time it takes to replenish grenades so I hope to get the damn gun before then.

Edit: just realised today IS the 25th......ha

March 25 PS4 Game Update Notes

    GENERAL FIXES
    -General stability improvements
-Fix for a crash that could occur when players were customizing vehicles.
-Fix for an issue in the Rush game mode where end-of-round screen would always indicate that there were 60 minutes left of the game.
-Fix for an issue where the splash damage for IFV shells, Helicopter rockets, and Mortar rounds was unable to destroy deployed equipment.
-Fix for an issue that could cause the quad bike to explode when it hit indestructible objects.
-Fix for an issue that would cause sniper rifles to display too much bloom when aiming in snowy conditions, especially the outside areas of Operation Locker.
-Fix for an issue where the ECM would sometimes fail to jam incoming missiles.
-Shortened the take-off distances for jets to match the length of the runways in Second Assault maps.
-Fix for going above ceiling exploits in Operation Metro.
-Fix for a new MAV riding exploit.
-Fix for kill camera jittering/strobing sometimes if colliding with other world objects or terrain.
-Fix for soldiers getting catapulted when walking on steep surfaces

    “NETCODE”
-Fix for an issue where the kill camera would display the incorrect killer.
-Fix for an issue where the kill card won’t show up when playing on servers which have the kill camera turned off.
-Fixed an issue where other soldiers would appear to fire in the wrong direction when turning quickly.
-Fix for weapons firing twice, or not at all in some instances.
-Fix for an issue where explosions didn’t do any damage to infantry and vehicles that were outside of the combat area.
-Fix for an issue where late-joining players wouldn’t correctly experience Levolution events on Paracel Storm and Flood Zone.
-Fix for an issue that could cause packet loss.

    PROGRESSION
-Added Gold Battlepacks as rewards for Class Service Stars, allowing players that have reached the max Rank to continue earning new Battlepacks.

    WEAPONS / GADGET TWEAKS
-Increased the damage of the normal buckshot against targets with Body Armor.
-Reduced the vertical recoil of the M4 and M16A4 to give these burst fire weapons a tighter burst accuracy in their mid- to long range role.
-Reduced the side-to-side and first shot recoil of the G36C. This weapon now has the lowest side-to-side recoil of the carbines, giving it a clear controllable low rate of fire role, especially when compared to the AK5C, Type-95B-1 and the AKU-12.
-Tweaked the detonation time of the 40mm LVG so it bounces less before going off. The maximum damage has however been reduced to 80 like the RGO.
-Reduced the number of how many 40mm HE and LVG rounds players can carry, from 4 to 3.
-Increased the time it takes to get new 40mm round from ammo boxes. The time is longer for HE and LVG grenades and shorter for utility grenades like SMK and FLASH.

    GRENADE TWEAKS
-Increased the time it takes to get new RGO IMPACT, V40 MINI, M84 FLASHBANG and M18 SMOKE grenades from ammo boxes. Since the player now carries more of these grenades, the resupply delay needed to be longer to prevent grenade spamming.

    VEHICLE TWEAKS
-Significantly improved the suppression from mounted vehicle weapons, including miniguns, HMGs, LMGs, and all shells types for all armored vehicles.

    AIRCRAFT TWEAKS
-Further reduced the repair rate for the Scout Helicopters and the Transport Helicopters.
-Significantly increased the damage of Transport Helicopter miniguns.
-Changed the flight ceilings on Gulf of Oman, Caspian Border and Operation Firestorm to better match the height of the structures in those levels.
-Adjusted the damage of the 25mm and 30mm cannons for both Stealth Jets and Mobile AA to be equal in Damage Per Second to the 20mm default weapons. These weapons were clearly poorer choices in all circumstances, and their different rates of fire are intended to be the player's choice factor for these weapon systems.

    AC-130 GUNSHIP TWEAKS
-Increased the splash damage and the range at which the JDAM bombs can achieve max splash damage. The JDAM's power was not properly balanced with its difficulty to use. The JDAM remains a primarily anti-vehicle weapon, though this change will increase the effectiveness against all targets.
-Increased the accuracy and direct hit damage of the AC130 40mm cannons. 40mm cannons can now be used to fire pinpoint shots in 2-3 round bursts, enabling them to provide accurate fire on infantry and vehicle targets. Their velocity has also been marginally increased to aid their accuracy.
-Increased the splash damage and range of the AC130 25mm cannons. These cannons now do approximately 50% more damage, in a slightly increased area of impact. The increased damage as well as increased suppression effects will allow the 25mm cannon to fill its role as an area of effect weapon against infantry.

It's about time the AC-130 got some power, given it's a gunship that couldn't even kill soldiers 95% of the time.

Despite the Naval Strike maps being out, I was determined to unlock the F2000 before playing them. After several more close calls I finally succeeded........... Screenshot_2014-03-25-18-43-04_zpspzk0dr8h.png

Within a minute of unlocking the AWS(hands down my favorite gun by a mile already) I managed to push through 2 defenders and into the small elevator room. Killed 1 guy defending the escalators as the door opened and moved around to the right to hide my flank. Positing myself at the back wall of the elevators, looking into the lockers and sweet baby jebus it's an orgy of red triangles :D Absolutely spray into the narrow corridor clipping all of them. Rest of my team were at the top of the corridor shooting down, never been so happy to have my kills stolen :)

Lads, for anyone who hasnt gotten NS yet, yis need to get it, its very very good, easily the best expansion pack, maps are brilliantly laid out and are very infantry focused. I played about 7 games of carrier assault and it was the most fun ive had playing BF in a while. The servers were a bit laggy at times and was still getting the odd bit off rubber banding but honestly they are super, love the hovercrafts \ bumpercars aswell, so easy to get roadkills

I've only played a few of the maps and/or game modes but you're right. It's brilliant so far. It's surprisingly well balanced for a Naval themed release, infantry play a huge role. I REALLY wanna get a kill with that cannon :D

I am worried about the lagging though, the whole DLC is delayed until middle of April on PC & XB1 because if it

Its crazy good. Last night I had some of the best firefights ive ever had in Bf4, the The naval base with the submarine in it is brilliantly designed, loads of cover, and very tactical aswell with bridges and the floodgates, feels a bit like Goldeneye or something, thats my favourite map so far. The level with the the fort with the canons on top of it, is also excellent kinda feels a bit like Castle Wolfenstein mixed in with a pirate game. The entire DLC though has a great balance between vehicles and infantry

I had a load of lag in a US server, changed my filter to europe and was fine after that. Thurles joined me after a few games but said he had to bail cos he was getting a load of lag, funnily enough i seemed to be grand.

I have to agree with you Ally, only had a quick few go's last night with a bit of lag but maps are excellent along with the carrier assault mode. Definitely worth the money. Time to unlock the new semi-automatic sniper rifle now!!

The part I'm happiest about is that finally, the unlock requirements for the new guns don't make you camp a damn tower for the whole match. The AWS is a ****ing beast

To unlock the AWS paul do you have to destroy the vehicles in NS or can you do it in any maps? Cant really see meself C4'ng that many boats

The AWS can be done on any map, I've already unlocked it despite NS not even being available on PC yet.

Yeah I think the SR338 is the only gun you actually need Naval Strike for, 5 C4 kills on those maps(just got it now so I'll give it a go)

Sorry Ally, didn't even notice your question :(

I may be missing here but I cannot see any advantages of a Recon using this new semi-auto sniper rifle

    Screenshot_2014-03-26-11-51-53_zpsc8ddcntt.png

Its got LESS damage and stability than the all class DMR and a smaller ammo capacity??? It's still a 3 shot kill and I found the ROF fairly slow. I know it's very early, I've only a handful of kills with it, and I don't like using DMRs anyway but this 1 seems odd to me. I'm going to assume it's damage maintains at range, it comes with an 8× scope from the get go

The lag is now unplayable, couldnt enjoy NS at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 460 ✭✭keithc83

Was I dreaming when EA/DICE said that they would fix the lag issues before releasing any more DLC?
The issues are still prevalent on the base maps so I don't understand why they are releasing more maps on top of this without fixing all the problems first. Without that lag almost all of the maps are really enjoyable and fun. But it gets way too frustrating to enjoy any game when you can't even walk or sprint properly.

I only had a couple of quick games on the base maps last night, and I had some rubber-banding still. But it did seem to be better I will say that. (No falling into the floor/water, no stuck in killcam mode, no EA server errors...all of these were happening up until yesterday)
I haven't tried the new maps yet as i only started downloading them late last night but really hoping that I can get a few games in on NS without much lag.

Well the two games i had on US servers were unplayable, had to quit shrtly after joining as the lag was awful. I switched to european server and it was fine, the odd bit of lag when the sub came down on one of the maps (leveloution) but apart from that it was grand

So there I am with premium looking forward to NS and 2 days in I can barely play the feckin thing... last night was shocking, it was stuttering and lagging so bad I just packed it in (again).

At the weekend it was working fine, it seems every patch causes more problems at first at least.

Even had to play DOM and that was lagging!.

    Geez

I've found Naval Strike to be very very hit or miss. When it works, it's fantastic, but I've had more laggy games than not. Surely, whatever the issue that's affecting the XB1 and PC version isn't exclusive to those platforms. It seems like we're doing another beta test for them. The vanilla maps are running a lot smoother now with absolutely no lag except during some of the massive levolution moments. China Rising and Second Assault run perfectly as well so in my opinion, it's clearly an issue with Naval Strike rather than the latest patch

WOW… I played BF4 vanilla last night and it ran perfectly, first time I can say that. It was beautiful… every time I did a test I got all green and zero latency issues… you could feel it too.

I must check my stats from last night as I am expecting to have a K/D of at least 2/1 whereas my normal K/D is 1.39/1 … why, cos it is tough playing a stuttering game and being killed before you even see the enemy.

It was amazing, I was in an attack jet on Golmund Railway and it was ran like a beauty… made it far more enjoyable.

Only concern is (a) was just a once off night and (b) I was playing rush/obliteration, i.e. not 64 man servers.

If this is the way the game is going to be going forward it will be a 10/10 game… excellent.

I get very little lag on the vanilla maps(Langcam Dam used to be bad but that's long sorted) except on Hainen Resort but that's only when the hotel comes down. Now it could be a coincidence.....but none of the Second Assault nor China Rising maps have any significant levolution and they run perfectly. Even on 64 man servers, I've never had a single issue. The vanilla maps and the new Naval Strike maps DO have levolution effects and they seem to suffer, to varying degrees obviously.
I don't recall having many problems on the smaller game modes, on any of the dlcs. Rush/Domination/Obliteration etc, all run fine. It can't simply be put down to the fact that there are less players though. I've had lag, stuttering & rubberbanding on 64 man servers that are less than half populated.
I've got to be honest, I don't think I'd even miss it if they could turn off the Levolution. I struggle to think of a single map where triggering the Levolution has a game changing effect. I understand there's so much more going on with the net code and lag etc than just the Levolution moments but to a layman looking in, the only thing in coincidence seems to be these effects.

I've got to be honest, I don't think I'd even miss it if they could turn off the Levolution. I struggle to think of a single map where triggering the Levolution has a game changing effect.

While I agree the first time I was on the roof of the Skyscraper in Shanghai and it started to shake, didn't know what was going on and then it just collapsed was awesome!

There was heap of us playing Vanilla Conquest last night all on party, and im fairly sure all of us were experiencing a bit lag at one stage or another, think you might have just been lucky. A few rounds were ok.

Id agree It does make a huge difference to your score\ experience though when the game is running smooth. I tend to use PDW's\ AR's with a high rate of fire, so its vital for me that the hit detection and game are solid, when it is, i usually know exactly how many bullets i need to down a guy so I can let my finger off the trigger to conserve rounds in the chamber for the next guy and the next guy before reloading. But when im experiencing lag \ hit detection issues, i have to keep the trigger down that bit longer to make sure he drops meaning less rounds in the chamber and more time reloading meaning more time dead.

When it gets laggy for me, i tend to have to change my style, find cover, shoot, duck \ crouch, reload, go again etc etc, and because its not my natural style i dont do aswell.

Actually, the 2 maps that do come to mind regarding game changing levolution are Shanghai and Gulf of Oman. The dust clouds masking all the lovely artwork :D

Paul Booth... wow, sounds like you are having 1 in a million good performance results.

Are you wireless or wired connection?

    Is that actually important.

I am wireless and have been for 4 years and never a problem until BF4.

It's not as rare as it sounds. There's quite a few people who get little problems. I've been extremely lucky so far, even at launch, I seemed to get off lightly. I don't think it's ever been 'unplayable' but certainly unpleasant some times. I played a lot of Rush early in the game to get around the huge issues with Conquest. I'll never join a server with less than 4 bars and try stay European.......On that note, Asian servers seem to have no lag or rubberbanding but the hit-reg is worse, go figure :).............I was only on for 3 games with the lads last night and the only slight trace of lag I got was, amazingly, on Paracel Storm
I've got the 100mb fibrewire with UPC

On a map that was notorious for the lag, I just finished there with no rubberbanding or stuttering or issues with hit-reg or being hit around corners. European server with 4 bars
