Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Great start

Jags has the better of Giroud so far. Lukaku looking dangerous.

I was very unsure on Martinez a year or so back, around the time he was linked with Liverpool, but the way he seamlessly has changed Everton from bogball to a fluid passing team is quite impressive.

Sure he got a good group, but bringing in Barry and McCarthy has really boosted their midfield and given them a good platform to play the way he wants to.

They're playing very well, surely can't keep this energy up though?

Everton playing some good ball here, oviedo looks very good

    Weathering a storm here.

Everton could do with a goal while on top

Oviedo has the beating of Jenks so far. Could cause trouble!

Everton playing well. Still confident of an arsenal victory

We need more pace in the final third, theo would be fast enough to reach some of the balls we're playing and losing at the moment.

    Standing off them too much

Everton passing it around fun. Look like the home side.

Complete myth. Everton were playing lovely fluid stuff under Moyes the last two seasons, especially last season.

Jaysus not often a team comes and takes 66% possession off us at home. Fairly filthy from Barry there too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

    Barry's been a great signing.

Yeah, last season I suppose they weren't bad. Especially Baines and Pienaar on the left. But for big games, more often than not under Moyes, Everton resorted to Rugby.

Nearly every Merseyside Derby they were dour in.

Also, wasn't the same midfield control based passing game that you see now, either. That trio of Barkley, Barry and McCarthy is impressive so far this season.

Agreed, first half of play season was great, if only the was a striker to finish it off.

Santi is suffering the 2nd season syndrome if it even exists.

The hell was cazorla thinking there? great work from Giroud beforehand.

This is just a joy to watch from both teams.

I'll be ripping if an arsenal player is first in the book. That's 3 fairly clearcut yellows Webb has let slide for Everton.

Myth is a bit strong. Under Moyes they weren't a long ball team as some are trying to suggest but they were no were near as fluid and expansive in their play especially against the top sides.

    Barkley is very, very impressive.

So close.... Great build up, pressure from the Everton players in our own half was unreal.

Martinez to be Wengers successor when Wenger retires? Outpassing Arsenal at the Emirates is hugely impressive.

Did Rodgers do it with Swansea as well, or am I making that up?

Counts for nothing until they start troubling the scoreboard.

In saying that, rivaling BVB for the best team we've played at home this year.

Not really. Have they had a shot on target? A real lack of any goal chances in the game so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,887 ✭✭✭✭klose

Superb stuff here from everton, cazorla having a bad game.

Maybe I misread it, but Everton had 3 to Arsenals 0, on a popup on SS1.

Fair enough. Nothing memorable though. For all that, they've been clearly the better team.

Not really working for Arsenal going forward, and Everton have been excellent. However the defence has done well to limit any chances.

And on MOTD next week. Maybe he will say we can win it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭EuropeanSon

BBC stats say no shots on target for anyone yet. Arsenal don't have any shots at all though.

****sake ref how is that not a card?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,184 ✭✭✭Gavlor

Everton are playing some stuff but we need a goal before the break

I think the ref left his cards at home.

Barkley - awareness of what's going on around him, ability to pick up pockets of space and take the ball under pressure, pass it off quickly, or take it on and beat a man. All of that is frightening for someone so young, in what really is, his first proper season in the PL. First season as a starter, anyway.

Just turned 20 and looks so at ease out there.

Koscielny is very quick, Lukaku drove past him, looked like a foul on the big Belgian.
