Hi all, just wanted to ask if anyone might know about switching healthcare cover within VHI.

My father (65) is currently on a family plan that he no longer requires (mother is deceased), I understand that moving to another provider would just not work due to waiting period. He spoke to them and said he was told that if he moves plans he'll be on a waiting period again  so basically they can hold him within a plan that is well over his needs?! Is this the way of things?

    thanks in advance

He won't have a waiting period if he moves to a like for like plan, despite what VHI are telling him.

Thanks for the reply, just wondering what you mean by 'like for like plan' specifically?

He'll only have waiting periods if he moves to plans that have higher benefits, for plans with equivalant benefits or downgrades he won't.
