I wonder if you would get away with flying over Australia in a hot air balloon and dropping frogs with little parachutes?

Sorry, thought I'd share this mental image From the Australian border show thread.

I had to look this up. Oh f*ck!

    Genuinely feeling nauseous now. :(

I get fearful when I think I've killed someone but I'm not 100% sure so they might come after me for revenge.

It irritates me if I look directly at radiators. Literally can't look at them for more than a second or my eyes get uncomfortable. Think I hit my head off one when I was younger. No health and safety lawsuits back in those days lemme tell ya (I won't).

Moths, butterflies, heights, everyone around me dying and stickers on my face. :)

What about the other latex balloon-like yokes?

    Moths

The idea of being lost underground in confined spaces.

I'm starting to get slowly afraid of flying as I get older.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 783 ✭✭✭HerrScheisse

I also have a fear of old man heads.

I used to have nightmares about numbers when I was younger, as weird as it sounds. It'd go black, I'd have to count up to a certain number or I couldn't wake up.

    It was awful.

Me too! Strange how that one can sneak up on you as you get older. I never cared up until a few years ago.

It's weird. I used to actually enjoy flying but I'm definitely getting more afraid of it.

I'm another one in the starting to get afraid of flying camp. I was really hungover the last time I was on a plane though.

I have always have had a fear of birds - the feathered kind.

As I have become older I fear heights and confined places.

As long as they're not fully inflated I'm ok :D

I read the book Shawshank Redemption years ago and that bit where he crawls along a few kilometres of narrow pipe, including a vertical junction....

I'd have just stayed in prison for life for a crime I didn't commit.

I fear for my children's futures, how they will turn out, what mistakes they will make, decisions they make when there is no one there to guide them. Sweet jeez it's a scary thought.

My fear of heights has affected me on holidays. Once I'd tried to overcome that fear by taking the lift in the Mole Antonelliana in Turin.

I didn't realise the lift went through the aperture in the roof.........when I did my heart started racing, my breathing became shallow and I started to sweat (perspire).

When I did arrive on to terra firma I was still shaking.

I'm absolutely terrified of daddy long legs. I can't be in the same room as one. If I'm in bed and hear one flying around I become so terrified I can barley move. Also I honestly think they are extremely stupid, they just keep flying right at you and then get caught in your hair.

Ok need to stop talking about them as I'm beginning to feel sick.

To a lesser degree, I'm afraid of butterflies and moths.

I went up the Empire State Building in New York having stupidly presumed it was an enclosed platform at the top. I nearly had a full blown panic attack when I stepped out into the open air that far up. My fear of heights seems to be getting worse as I get older.

Hooray, looked that up and shuddered. Wouldnt say it's a phobia but ...ugh

Scared to death of syringes myself and it's got worse since i was a child. Had to get blood taken a week ago and went white.

Dying with no one around me.

Its strange because I like being on my own and I am comfortable in my own company but I have this awful fear of dying and having no one there around me.

    Seplophobia- Fear of decaying matter

I have this really bad. No dead animals (meat or fish) can cross the door. Decay begins at the moment of death.
I give perishable food away days before the best before date. I bury fruit and veg because I'd freak out if I thought anything was rotting in the wheely bin.
I couldn't even kiss my father goodbye when he was laid out.

However, 99% of the time I forget I have it.

I'm absolutely terrified of heights. I get dizzy and can't move. Ive never felt any fear like it. It's on a whole different level to any feeling of fear i've experienced.

Made the mistake of going on a rollercoaster over the summer and i spent the whole ride with my eyes closed while shouting "Jesus Christ" over and over again. The girl sat behind me was laughing the whole way. Looking back it was funny but it was anything but funny at the time.:D

The funny thing is i wasn't so bad with heights when i was young and i've no idea where the absolute terror i get now comes from.

Planes, the thoughts of being on one makes me physically ill :( Really have to get over it though because I've never been abroad on one as a result and really really want to travel.

Quiet places. I need background noise at all times...

Lifts, I won't get in one. Have been known to take 5+ flights of stairs rather than get in one. I also hate locking the bathroom door in public toilets if there is no gap at the bottom of the door. The feeling of the doors closing and not being able to get out. The thoughts of both make me feel queasy :-(

I have a fear of dying alone and lonely in a room that smells heavily of urine.

Don't die in Coppers then. ;)

Dying young. Have always feared that for some reason.

This is weird but whenever my housemate has a gathering of friends in the living room I'm afraid to go in there. I guess it's an extention of social anxiety, but if there's just one person I don't know it's fine. If there's any more than that I'll just lock my room door until they leave.

    Are you even black, bro?

Imagine a white person saying the same about black people...

Jesus, I thought I was in the minority with the butterfly (hate even typing the word) phobia. Glad to hear there are more of us. I have a big back garden and I didn't go out there once during the summer for fear of encountering one of these nasty little feckers, I even used a clothes horse in the house to dry clothes. My family can't understand and regularly take the piss. I don't know where the fear came from but it's very debilitiating. I truely dread the warm weather..

I'm strangely not afraid of anything in particular. Had a few phobias, well one big one, which was an intense fear of flying, but I got over that and absolutely love flying again.

    Grand now

Yeh this is a real bad fear, I have a friend who has same ,went for counciling, took medication because she had to take a flight, its like a double whammy, confined space plus height .

Most people can go around their fears but the likes of this one it stops you living a normal life. You should start getting help for this . Good luck

It does occur to me, yes. Probably largely because of the woozy, distracted feeling I get.

Fear is a big word, but I really don't like making phone calls.

Other than that, clowns or the dark (a combination of those two would be terrifying for sure)

Yeah, I feel this almost invisible presence dragging me towards the edge. And its only come on in the last few years. Weird.
