I get ASMR from people talking softly or brushing my hair. I call it 'human purrs'. Only one other person I know in real life gets it. If I've had a stressful day I'll pop in my earphones and listen to whisper vids on youtube, better than valium!

I have never known what to call this but I love it! Closest feeling I have ever had to the phrase 'outer body experience'

I have never actually asked anyone else does it happen to them. I always just tthought I was weird!

Also the odd time when going to sleep (the thinking time before sleep actually). While laying there thinking it's as if I'm out of my body thinking as if I'm away from my brain, it's as if the voice in my head is in the corner of the room as I'm in bed if that makes sense?

Like I can hear the voice in my head but it's in the corner of the room for some reason.

And I can control the distance - I can put mmyself very far away where it feels as if I'm up in the clouds thinking to myself in bed. Hard to explain and weird all the same.

I hate the smell of newspaper. If a newspaper was laying on a cushion on a seat I wanted to sit on, I would turn over the cushion before sitting on it. Absolutely despise the smell of it.

It's probably weirder that I stroke the sides of my face and neck realllllly gently sometimes until it's so tickly I can't bear it, then I scratch the shit out of it. Amazing.

I do this with my head too! You find just the right spot and tickle it, it's so good but quickly becomes an unbearable tickling sensation and I have to scratch it like mad! Even then when scratching it still tickles.

    I associate colours and numbers.

    1 is yellow.
    2 is blue.
    3 is green.
    4 is yellow.
    5 is red.
    6 is orange.
    7 is black.
    8 is blue.
    9 is purple.
    10 is black.

I can't stand seeing used cutlery on idle plates. Even more so if there is leftover food on it. I hate clearing tables after dinner for this reason.
If I accidentally touch leftover food (from someone other than myself) I feel nauseous.
I'd go crazy in work when sitting at a desk if someone's left a half drank, now cold cup of tea there earlier.

Just realised how weird I actually am....

When I was younger when thinking to myself I used to spell - think. Like while I'm writing this out I am automatically spelling every word in my head as I write it. I don't have to think about it, it just happens.

Spell - thinking ....... its great!

I do probably about a quarter to half of the things listed on this thread. Something like this was on boards before and I found out the name for the ASMR effect, it's very interesting. Hundreds of videos online, some with a huge number of views with very dedicated followers. There is something to it, headphones on, eyes shut and it helps me sleep.

Also, don't worry about doing anything "weird" in this life, take a second to think about something moronic people do everyday, what you're doing won't seem half as dumb, and who cares as long as you have fun.

When I was very young, maybe 6, I had a dream.

I have no idea what it was about, but there was something in it, something weird, a bit like a bone and a bit like a piece of fur rubbed the right way.

If I ever feel something exactly like that, I may die.

I constantly spell and pronounce words backwards to myself. I have been doing this for years. I can speak quite fast backwards as a result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Schwiiing

When I was younger I used to short visions of the future and when they would happen I would briefly feel sick. Still can't explain it.

I sometimes take a dump with the door open. I get a feeling of freedom and different things to look at instead of the back of the door . I do it when people are in the house too but only when they're downstairs. Its kind of a game of poo chicken. I'll probably get caught at some stage.

    Don't judge till you've tried it :)

I leave sausages, bacon pieces and pudding in Nando's Piri-Piri sauce for a few hours then chop it all up and put it on top of a pizza :o Nothing like that little piece of heaven !

Oh, I count the amount of letters in a word really fast.

Numbers...the numbers game in countdown is actually exhillarating. There should be a programme solely dedicated to a compilation of number games.

Also I kind of get a cheap thrill when numbers are involved in situations that maths isn't the primary function. I realise that I'm explaining this in a backarse fashion so I'll give examples like in games when you need so many points to achieve a new level or things like that.

If I'm in traffic I like to use numberplates and do little sums to see can I make up each number from 1-10...

...typing this makes me feel like a freak :p

I do all this too. Number feckin mad

Also, when I am reading, or listening to someone, I pick a word and arrange the letters alphabetically. Can do it lightning fast.

It drives me crazy sometimes as I can't stop. If I am tired and reading sometimes I can only concentrate on the alphabetizing, and have to re-read a paragraph a number of times

Oh! When I'm walking around by myself sometimes I trace words with the index finger of my right hand onto my right thumb, one letter at a time. Usually curse words or slagging someone off in front of me.

When I'm in the shower I like to cup my hands below my anus until the water builds up and then I squash it up my hole. It's a cheaper form of colonic hydrotherapy.

It's easier to unscrew the shower head and stick the hose up your arse.

Having a wee must be the absolutely last thing I do in the bathroom before bed. If I wee and then remember to put thd cat out I then must return to the loo and drain a drop. If i dont I will lie awake convinced I am bursting.

One thing that makes me seem weird a LOT is my unbelievable capacity for blushing uncontrollably. I blush for all kinds of reasons (I think it's some kind of mild skin condition) and if I meet a very attractive woman, I'll blush uncontrollably.

    I cant memorise numbers normally.
Phone numbers and pins are memorised by the shape they make on the keypad as im pressing them, so I have to do this in my head if im relaying a number to someone.

I eat raw pot noodle because its quicker and usually tastier.

For a period of time I used to have this weird... tick, I guess? If I was looking at a computer screen and it went blank (changing resolutions, starting games, intervals) then I had to squint and blink rapidly until it was back to normal.

I understand OPs friend, I didn't like any kind of music until I was 18. Even now I only really like instrumental stuff, peoples voices ruin it for me.

I have a mild form of synesthesia, I allocate textures and colours to concepts. So monday is brown, friday is green, saturday is yellow and sunday is pink.

I have non24 hour sleep wake disorder since the age of 12.

I have another condition that I forget the name of. I can pick a spot on my face/neck/leg and feel the pain in my back.

I hate touching cotton wool. It's not a fear exactly, it's just deeply unpleasant.

Same with touching velvet, newspaper, chalk dust, flour, those wooden sticks you use to stir hot drinks. I would read newspapers wearing gloves if it wasn't so difficult. (And crazy). I feel better if I wet my hands afterwards.

Edit: Also, glasses that have just come out of the dishwasher.

Jesus, it sounds like I spend my days wandering around the place with emergency oven gloves...

I always look at car registrations and either immediately calculate how old there are, or, how much newer than my car they are! Also, I have an uncanny knowledge of car brands for a woman, and can also tell a lot of makes simply from seeing their headlights...

I'm pretty much the same, the feel of cotton wool gives me a shiver down my spine, same with velvet. I also hate the noise from the rough bottoms of plats or bowls scratching off each other...YEUCK!

I cannot have any volume button reading at an odd number - on my tv/stereo it can be 14/16 etc., but it cannot be 15. It actually bothers me, I've even changed it in other person's home - like they will adjust the volume and I'll pick up the control and adjust it by 1 if they leave it on an odd number.

Same as, on the computer/TV/radio/car, I can't leave the volume at an odd number.

I also love the sound of rain. Anyone I've told thinks I need my head examined. If I need to tune out to everything around me at work, I'll just throw on this...

I have a strange sense of humor. Luckily though, everyone who I'm friends with has the same humor but it's a bit awkward when you try to be funny to a person you just met and come off as a weirdo.

I spell Michael as Micheal. I think the proper spelling just looks out of place.

As mentioned by an earlier post I have something similar. I like to think of different names as colors. James is blue, Adam's a red, Oscar is orange. Micheal is a silvery blue. Jordan is purple. It's funny, me and some others sometimes randomly name people and think of what color their name is.

I have OCD so it gets a bit annoying and stressful at sometimes.

I am an extremely private person. Wouldn't let anyone do something on something that was mine unless I knew.

How is it a strange sense of humour if all your friends have it as well?

My weird thing is that I like "busting chops". I'm busting chops today.
