    Hi all,

Just wondering if someone here could point me in the right direction.

I am working as a teacher in a school that has YouTube blocked - which is madness, I know, but they won't overturn that decision.

Anyway, what is the easiest/handiest way to download clips and play them to the class?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

install vlc video player,on the school pc.
    use the firefox browser,
to down load the files on your home pc.

GET video downloader extension, install it on firefox

THEN play youtube video, click ,icon under video window ,
download video, name it,or leave name as is,
select ,quality, hd, hi quality, ,good quality,
it gives you a choice ,of mp4,
    or flv video file format.
    i use mp4,
good quality, 3minute video = 12meg file size approx.

YOU Can burn files to cd, or dvdr, or copy them to
    usb key or usb drive.

vlc plays mp4, or wmv, or flash files ,
    most video file formats.
or use mp4, or wmv format ,
    play in windows media player.

VLC has much better controls, easier to use than
    windows player.

    once file starts downloading ,
go onto the next yt video clip,
ie you dont have to play the full video,
as long as browser is open ,it,ll download the file.
    once download process starts.
it,ll continue to download ,and you can download ,
5 or more files at the same time if you wish.
takes about 4 mins to download a 3minute video ,
    for me.
    i have 20 meg connection

Some hd tvs, and dvd players,

have usb port, where you plug in a usb key,
if its formatted in fat 32,

YOU can play the files, mp4,or avi format .
    if tv is hdtv,
you can plug a laptop, into via hdmi port,
SET screen resolution to 1024x768 before you plug it in.

in MY experience thats the easiest program to use,
    click download,
    choose video quality,
    save box appears,
    click ok,download.

you can go into settings ,default download,
set download quality, good, mp4 file format.
    eg 3mins =12meg file
    read the manual,faq.

if you set download hd HIGH quality, file size will be much bigger.
eg 12meg vs hd, 30megabyte file.

just about any pc, device ,smart phone is setup to play mp4 files.

    Download Helper for Firefox.

Extremely handy plugin where you just open a Youtube link and then click the spinning icon beside the address bar to download whatever quality of video you want.
