This is the tweet the outlets are basing their "breaking news" on

    https://twitter.com/raymcadam/status/484632556726669312

DCC however have publicly said nothing has been said.

    Odd.

That councillor was on RTE confirming his tweet saying the full decision would be published within the hour.

No. Licences are never granted before tickets go on sale. Every single event is subject to license.
    This is not aikens fault!

totally Aikens fault, who else would you blame

The residetns are simply standing up for the agreement, DCC are simply upholding that agreement. You hardly blame the punters?

Whilst it may be the accepted norm, it seems (if the story is true that Aiken has been caught out this time

They may simply move the 2 other concerts to somewhere else really

They have to apply for a licence for another venue/stadium/field. That will take weeks again. Not going to happen.

Whichever way this goes it shows how totally unfair the current system is. DCC are now caught between the residents and the people who have bought and paid for tickets, and all the additional travel requirements.

Promotors should not be allowed sell tickets until such time as they have permission. That will force the promotors to get everything squared before the event is announced.

SUre ticketmaster have recevied their cut already, Aiken promo have had the cash for months. everybody wins, except those who lose out I guess!

They'll be forced to do sweet **** all!
    One concerts won't change anything.
First time this has, happened and they can't start selling tickets a week before an event!

If 2 are cancelled refunds for them will be given, just not from travel or hotels.

First time an event licence has been refused, according to the chap just on with Ray D'Arcy there now.

I guess it would make sense to have a licence granted before tickets went on sale.
I wonder what's the process in other countries?

Swapped tickets? Ticketmaster will give you a refund if you bought a ticket from them for a cancelled show.(if cancelled)
    If they paid by cash.

What if they paid by card?

Aiken followed the agreement.. I thought this had been thoroughly explained to people?! The agreement said permission must be sought, they did that!

Noone is,really at serious fault..aiken did their job correctly, PER THE AGREEMENT, DCC made a decision due to the opposition to the gigs,.

aiken caught out by following the law? Ah stop looking to.pick a fight, especially when nothing has been confirmed.

    Very odd!

And nothing on the DCC weekly planning site (it's usually updated fast)

Not before the formal orders are signed, which is probably happening now, and the reason there wont be a press release until all the technicalities are done with.

It's not all about money. You need to learn that.

Money will be refunded to the card that bought the tickets. If people bought off touts, they are f****d.

Thing is though, According to the outdoor events act 2001?, Promoting events without a license is an offence, So if the residents can use it as a defence, Maybe someone can bring aiken through small claims for it?

Well with so many unemployed in this country I'd say it is, anything that does international PR damage to this country is a bad thing especially whiney old townies being responsible for it.

I'm pretty sure putting 'subject to licence' on a ticket is the loophole to this as both MCD and aiken have done it for years and I'm.sure are both fully aware ifthe law.
