They were never approved until last minute, you can only apply very close to date, every outdoor gig is a gamble and they lost

You have a minimum time frame of application (I think it's 16 weeks prior to the event), you can apply for a licence at any point - ie last year when they were in talks with GB about having a series of concerts in the first place.
I suspect the last minute submission was to try avoid objections and it has backfired.

    Exactly.
They could have applied a long time ago, but didn't, for obvious reasons.

I'm genuinely confused as to why they waited so long to apply. It was fairly obvious there'd be objections, at least give yourself time to come up with a plan B if the license isn't granted!

I thought the same about a plan B myself but he said from day one that it was Croke park. I'm beginning to think there isn't a plan B :(

How about if the GAA were to offer to donate all the profits ( less expences ) from the two cancelled concerts to a charity or charaties to be decided by the local residents

Aikens clearly used this tactic to avoid not needing a none existent plan b and for him the Sh*t has really hit the fan today

I'm heading on the Sunday and if it's cancelled I'll get my money back and be happy. The ball and chain is making me go!!

I don't think the GAA themselves would go for that :)

    What profit?
    What gigs?
The licenses have been rejected and the decision cannot be appealed.
If these 2 gigs go ahead it'll be a complete joke.

Couple of months ago in vegas.

Just pure speculation on my side: would it be that they need to have the full production details from the artist, and submit it along all other aspects of the planning permission?

He had a 5 year deal with a las Vegas casino worth around 100 million in 2009 safe to say he is not desperate for cash

He's starting a 3 year world tour the end of this year... me thinks he's far from looking for the money off these gigs:pac:

Definitely don't think he's in it just for the money. I went to see him in Vegas and the tickets were far from cheap, those shows alone made him a fortune never mind what's he's made throughout the rest of his career.

Not to DCC, but if they are so inclined, the promoters and their cohorts can go through the courts.

Just cause you're rich doesn't mean you can't be greedy,Plus his first wife took $125 mil so hes probably only worth about $200 mil now.

    Potential profits

    Planned gigs

ANYTHING can be appealed and changed with a little cooperation

    Its already a joke

How much is a stetson? 365 of those a year will start adding up.

It'll be a long time he'll be back here again.

He'll never play here again unless its
guaranteed a licence will be granted.

Play 3 nights in Croke Park. Why bother, he hates the place now. Its nothing special to him.

The smaller stadiums aren't big enough for him. How many nights will he have to have play in each stadium. Go through all that process again and get a night or two pulled due to more moaners.

    A month in the O2.

what if they organised a GAA match before the monday and tuesday concerts and then classified the music as just extra entertainment? Would that get around the sports/concerts planning stipulations?

The american sports event in august is a special event. This should be cancelled.

Its in the 1992 planning application three special events e.g. concerts. Anything more and they need an even licence.

The american sports event is non gaa and is a special event.
