    Hi folks,

Can anybody recommend any APs that you can setup captive portals/hotspots on? Just need an access point that will redirect a user to a web page and they need to accept terms and conditions? I know there's software you can use on a server but prefer not to go down that route.

How well up on networking are you? Check out Mikrotik. RouterOS includes hotspot and userman which is all you need.

Plenty of guides and even html login templates out there if you Google. You even have the option of a trial login, say a small few minutes free then blocked awaiting voucher and the mac address added as a cookie for a length of time. You also have the option to make regulars bypass the hotspot completely. Userman allows you create vouchers based on limitations you create yourself. It's all there, blank canvas, up to you to make what you want of it.

I've installed some in pubs, guesthouses and restaurants. The wifi is free, but for customers only. Once setup the manager just prints out a bunch of free vouchers at a time and the vouchers are not valid until used once. I've a html template that fits 4 to an A4 page. There's even an android app to login to userman and print vouchers if you want to go that route.

    Much easier

    - just enter the MAC address of each one into the webpage ( its a bit like a Gmail/Yahoo account - you can do it on an ipad or anything )

    - plug them in to < "source" of internet >

    - few minutes later and they will set themselves up

    - you can design the "spash page" with the account thingy

    - they will mesh all day for you but run ethernet cables to each one for better reliability

    Buy a Ubiquiti unifi unit.

No messing around. Just does the job.
