Jobs announcement in my work place in Dublin City Centre at 4. Think that shower is going to form a lovely backdrop for us.

Its more like a monsoon than a shower.

That's 23mm in just under an hour, not too bad. Temperature plummeting now too, down 2.1C in 15 minutes as the final squall passed through, now 9.2C.

just wondering, would it be smart to go get batteries for the torch and some candles or will it not get too bad here in the south east, startin to get concered with all the esb faults, esp as the main event hasn't quite started yet?

For most of the country, these gusts from the front passing over will be as bad as it gets. For coastal counties in the west and northwest it will be more severe later this evening and tonight.

Probably going to get the least severe of it all down here in Wexford, But for what it's worth my sky went about half hour ago and it was raining quite heavily. A bit blustery with some big gusts but nothing out of the ordinary.

Part of the roof of Kent Station has collapsed onto a train and there are trees after snapping in half out in Togher.

    Some reports of a mini-Tornado..

    Could anyone confirm?

The wind and rain at its strongest of the day, though still moderate compared to the west/north west.

Watch the front break up and weaken when it hits Dublin - always happens.

    .

1 woman injured and they are supposed to be still checking under the collapsed roof.

If we get an hour of that rain in Dublin starting at about 4pm it could make for a nasty rush hour, lots of leaf fall in the drains still, wide road surfaces and natural hollows could get tricky. Winds are gusting to Force 9 on the bay from SE, generally a cr@ppy evening.....

It's just started raining in Dublin city centre.

Looking at the met.ie radar, the giant red blob is about to engluf us! It's going to be a b*tch of a rush hour.
