    Gusty and wild here but struggling to get gusts above 50 kt. (tops 53 so far). Defo a coastal event by and large.

    I'm in Galway city and it is a bit windy alright! I've never seen flooding that bad in Salthill before. Really can't understand how people thought it would be ok to park there. My parents live in Salthill but their house is up high so they're grand. I'm just hoping the electricity doesn't go out.

    The bridge in Lettermore seems like its on the verge of being washed away though so if anyone is driving out that way id avoid it.

    Stuck on n84 clifden road at rosscahill for the last hour, there must be a couple of kms tailback at this stage. A tree must have fallen. Fire brigade and gards passed. Can anyone confirm.

    Looks like met.ie are reporting yet another 78knt gust in mace head for the last hour. 47knt sustained.

    Mace Head has probably peaked. Next one to keep an eye on will be Belmullet.

    Most of the docks in Galway looks like its under water now. Theres gonna be some serious cleaning up to do over the next few days. Christams market and ice skating rink are closed as well.

    So walking by the sea only produced a peak gust of 48 mph. Back home the "night effect" means that it sounds much windier.

    The barometer is now up to 976.7 so the worst should be over for Galway

    I'd be quite surprised if you were, that's the N59, not a nice road to be held up on in this weather.

    I would say that those that are in the worst affected areas but escaped damage this time should take the opportunity to check their local area tomorrow- likely trees , roof tiles etc may well be loosened or damaged during this storm and with a likelihood of further stormy weather next week, damage may be a real possibility next time.

    Worst seems to be over Galway city it was nothing compared to the St Stephens day storm we had a few years back hopefully the Christmas storms next week will give that storm a run for its money! :)
