Heading over to the festival for the Thursday and the Friday. Staying in Birmingham. Anyone travelled from there to the course? What's the best way? Just book train tickets before we go?

If there are 3 or 4 of you just share a cab direct & avoid the hassle. Think its about 1 hr , 90-100 quid.

One of the lads is driving down from Scotland. What's parking like at the course if we drive down to the course?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭BumperD

You should have no bother parking at the course. Can be a delay getting out but if your in no hurry, your all set. If you need to leave early to catch a flight back from birmingham, just leave early. The price of trains over there is quite steep so sharing a cab or giving your buddy petrol money is the way to go (as long as your buddy is well rested driving from Scotland! :pac:)

Friend works in a boylesports shop.

Text me there saying a guy came in and wanted 2500 on Ballymac Vale to win the Irish Coursing Derby @ 20/1....

Think it got beat in the first round

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 605 ✭✭✭famagusta

Don't think it ran, was a bye if I remember correctly

Dead Heat rules apply if you had either of these backed

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,207 ✭✭✭Shanee.

Bit of a joke not having a final but I guess that's the rules

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

Am I missing something? Why isn't there a final

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,207 ✭✭✭Shanee.

The two in the derby were in the same ownership and going by coursing rules owners dogs can't run against each other..so it was a dead heat

What happens if two from the same ownership got drawn against each other in an earlier round? Or are the prevented from being drawn against each other?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 605 ✭✭✭famagusta

They can run against each other, I just made more sense for the owner to have joint winners

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    That's a bit shit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

Hard to see it making sense from a breeding pov thereafter either. Surely one overall winner would be worth more than two finalists

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,207 ✭✭✭Shanee.

They can't be drawn against each other. So the trainer of the two dogs was the same person and he advised to have the dogs in the same ownership as to stop them meeting early. By doing this the only way they could meet was the final and dogs who are owned in the same name can't run against each other.

    What about Dundalk tonight lads?

Have been thinking Pal Tal would strike some night off a very low mark. Very weak race and taking money tonight. Could be the night.

Similar for Kodiacs back in the last.

Wither Hills is one to keep and eye on in the 18:00 also. Similar mark to its win last year.

War Room in the 18:30 is back over a more suitable distance tonight also.

Gamble on Gold Eliza in 18:30. Draw wont help it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

He must be working well with something st home for them to be backing him. I'd never back one coming over here from England it's way more competitive. Draw and jockey hardly inspires confidence

Mr Michael a big price in the last, dunno how he hasn't won a maiden nevermind a handicap off 60. Dropped three pounds for a good run last week when weakening having gone well for a long way down in trip tonight 20/1. Bittern in the 12 furlong race over priced 12/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,107 ✭✭✭HarshOstrich

I think ado mcguinness will have a good night.
    Guanabara bay should go close
Black label is a big price at 20/1
