Consider 'cremant'. You are looking for a 'brut' version. Very similar to champagne in taste, but much cheaper. Aldi have a Cremant du jura for 9.99 which is lovely, Lidl have a cremant which is 15.99, Superquinn have a cremant de loire, premier cru for 17.99 which is also available in a rose version which is lovely.

If budget is key, the aldi cremant is really very nice and most people who are not serious wine drinkers won't know the difference.

This is very, very good for the price - it used to be 17.99 and was a steal
