Hi my partner went t the bank today only to notice there was a substantial debit transaction on her account from a couple of days ago, when we asked a clerk in the bank she said she wouldent know what the transaction was until the new banking week begins , but she said it could be shadowing and if so the money would be credited back to the account.

What is this shadowing and why is it possible??

    Thanks

    Hi dazza161989,

Thank you for contacting us through Boards.

If your partner contacts Bank of Ireland 365 directly on 0818 365 365/00353 1 4044000 a representative will be happy to look into the  transaction.

Shadow posting can occur if a card payment is cancelled or voided at point of sale after we have authorised it.  It can then take up to three working days for the transaction to fall off the account.  There is no guarantee this is what happened, your partner is best off contacting Bank of Ireland 365 to make sure.

    Many thanks

    Seán
