Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spurs high defensive line is perfect for us.

I like Dawson, but playing such a high line with him at CB is asking for trouble. Villas-Boas tried the same at Chelsea with about as much success.

He put his shoulder into the back of him and Mignolet was right to go down !
Agree. Seen a similar incident in the United match where Agbonlahor did the exact same thing to De Gea but no free was given.

    Is Capoue usually this awful?

    He's playing out of position.

AVB has to rethink the highline defence.

It's not going to work in a league as frenetically paced as the Premier League.

    Unless you are Arsenal

And Btw, Allen has been motm so far. Good to see him sticking it to the people who have slated him.

He's had a nightmare so far, he genuinely looks afraid to be in possession of a football.

Pool unlucky to be only 2 up. Very good in that half.

    Henderson..

the only things we miss from Stevie are his individual moments of magic and set pieces.

in general play we look more energetic and controlled without him.

    Massive 45 mins ahead.

Subs will play a big part.

He has been very good. Is providing a great link between the back line and attack.

Against Norwich and West Ham he was constanly receiving passes from Sahko and then pressing the ball forward, and looks like that trend has continued today.

Henderson having a good game as well.

    big time

spurs are still dangerous and I have zero confidence in our capabilities to keep a clean sheet this season

The team seems more balanced. Henderson has been terrific. He is just spraying the ball around. Great stuff.

AVB has to rethink the highline defence.

It's not going to work in a league as frenetically paced as the Premier League.

It works for Arsenal....usually. The high line is like zonal marking. When you concede a goal, everyone points to it as the problem but what they don't see is the other 10 times that something positive comes from it. The negatives are obvious so people notice them...... the positives are subtle so most people don't.

Playing a high line compresses the pitch, and means it's easier to win the ball back in the opposition half. You are going to concede goals with it that you wouldn't concede playing deeper.....that's true. But you are conversely going to win the ball back easier and subsequently keep the ball better. It's a trade off.

Sterling looks to have stuffed 10lb of lead into his shorts.

He is holding off some amount of weighty tackles against some very strong midfielders.

really interested now to see how AVB responds.

    Rodgers 2 AVB 0

Ive been a staunch supporter of allen while everyone else flogged him. He will be an outstanding cm I have no doubt, still so young.

Mighty performance. Pressing by the team and has been fantastic and ball retention purposeful. Need this win now so hopefully no stupid errors

Hendo is playing very well. Suarez surprisingly should definitely have had a couple more. He suddenly seems to need a lot more chances to score :)

    This^^

There is more fluidity from midfield passing.

Still not counting the chickens yet. AVB will bring on Townsend at HT.

This is the Sterling of early last season. Absolutely delightful to see.

Impressed with Sterling, he's doing today what he should be doin' all the time, beating players and passing the ball.. keep it up lad

I called it after about 2 games of the season that spurs wouldnt challenge for top 4 and be a rival (as such) and that AVB hasnt a scooby doo what he's doing.
I took the subsequent abuse on the chin :)

That's a very impressive performance from Liverpool whatever way you look at it. Suarez hitting Ronaldo like levels this season, it'll be interesting to see of he can sustain it until May.

Keep it tight and dont give Spurs any hope

Liverpool playing brilliantly and really exposing Tottenhams high line. I have always wrote Liverpool off this season but they look really impressive today, could be top at Christmas too.

Don't think there is any way Allen, Lucas and Henderson could be expected to keep up that intensity for the full 90 mins.

Going to need subs in after 70 mins or so to get us over the line.

you just knew Hendo wouldn't score the first one :)

Delighted so far, still worried, Spurs as bad as they are playing are still dangerous, hard to keep this up

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

    More of the same please.

Stay deep, stay tight, stay aggressive and break quickly.

We've had some poor 2nd halves this season so this game isn't over. We need to keep the same level of application and energy up and we should be fine.

Still far too early to call it. There is 45 mins left in this game, never mind 22.5 games left in the entire season.
