Wouldn't touch Jurgen tbh. I want someone who knows the league, someone who won't tell us all he needs 12 months to settle, Laudrup for me would be ideal, plays good football, knows the league and imo would develop the good footballers we have, but as I said, once they bring success, I don't care who gets it.

Laudrup worked wonders at getafe and is running a steady course at Swansea if available he could work , he might have his eye on the barca job though.

I'd take Lauprup as well, though i doubt we'll approach Swansea.

I'd say it's Sherwood's till at least the end of the season anyway. We'll than pickup someone after the world cup.

I don't think we can afford to have an interim manager. The players need certainty and leadership.

Wait a second.... I'm going to argue against my own point...... The last time an interim manager was hired after an AVB sacking, he (Di Matteo) went on to win the FA Cup and Champions League..... As the interim manger. Hmm......

Maybe that 11/4 on Sherwood ain't such a bad price.

What's the point? Daniel Levy might aswell appoint himself at this stage.

Can't see what Sherwood would offer. What experience does he have?

As a curveball, I wonder if Alex Ferguson is missing the day-to-day stuff and would like to top up the pension with a six month contract

Not sure who we should be going for or even who id like to see. For one its not Hoddle. Legend of a player but he failed with us last time and with all the talent on the books now he still rates Dawson, and Defoe as the way forward. These are the types of player really holding us back. Id like to see Defoe move on in Jan. He been fanatsic for us but its time to cut him loose replace him with a young hungry talented stiker.

MArtinez was my pick before AVB and he is out of the question now. Laudrup possibly or jhold out for Moyes in the summer

He didn't have the quality the last time, I think he has one of the best footballing brains, surely he is worth a shot if it is an interim job.

    A big no to Klinsmann.

I think Sherwood will do an okay job as intern, he's worth a punt for now. I don't expect the club to name a new manager any time soon? And I sure as he'll don't expect us to get thumped 5-0 at home without having a single shot on target again this season. About time we lashed out, and tonight is perfect ammunition.

I've no problem with Klinnsman but I don't think it's realistic for the moment, completely agree about Glenn's last tenure, he had very little quality, nobody could have been truly successful with the players and resources we had back then, the players at Spurs now will surely not be intimidated in the way that was previously thrown at him as a major criticism. He's been a successful manager in the past, good enough to get the England job where he did quite well with a very average team, he's played on the continent successfully, as an Englishman he knows the league, he will play football the Spurs way, I can see a lot of positives in giving him till the end of this season, I'm sure he understands that it could be a stopgap till after the world cup. For those reasons I fail to see where the risk is. Sherwood isn't ready for this job, Hoddle will surely have the respect of the players, as I said he's a former England manager, he's a club legend(possibly the greatest of them all) and he was a genuinely world class player.

Sherwood is obviosuly a good coach as Spurs have held on to him when approached by clubs and he had good success with the development squad. Whether he could be a good premier league manager is another thing.

But you never know lads, the squad could rally around him, close ranks so to speak and play with a freedom that AVB would not allow..

Quoted as saying he has spoken with Tottenham about replacing AVB, he is out of contract in the summer and could bring the Egyptian kid Mohammed Salah with him...?

Hmm, isn't he just another AVB? No real previous except some smaller teams, has done well for 18 months with FC Basle in a poor league (excluding the CL of course). I think he'd be too risky and hardly worth waiting until next summer for.

That Yakin lad looks kinda eerie. Pornstar past no doubt.

It's hard to know who will make Levy happy! He wasn't happy with Martin Jol who did a decent job for us! He wasn't happy with Harry who gave him Champions League football! And he wasn't happy with AVB not playing certain players!

This should be levy's last chance whomever he appoints

The real question is, did Levy and Baldini sack AVB because he wouldn't start Adebayor or Lamela? If so, why would any manager want to stay or take over? 7th in the premier league, 8 wins out of eight in the EL and in the quarter final of the CC and you get sacked. Fcuk me, Levy is going through managers quicker than the English FA.

Stats don't mean a thing in football really though, see AVB constantly quoting about how many shots we've had this season. The punters who are paying couldn't stomach the football being played under AVB so he had to go imo. Even from my armchair I haven't been excited about watching us in a very long time.

Excluding caretakers, of the last 10 Spurs managers, six have been foreign and none of them have really worked out - Osvaldo Ardiles, Christian Gross, Martin Jol, Jacques Santinii, Juande Ramos and now AVB. Arry probably the pick of the last ten. Gerry Francis & Hoddle did okay for a while and of course George Graham delivered on the silverware front.

Moral of the story, keep it native.

Somebody seems to know something we don't. Frank De Boer (FDB) has gone from 16/1 to 13/8 favourite with Skybet over night.

I have no doubt that we are talking to him, though I do have a doubt as to whether he would leave Ajax mid-season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,237 ✭✭✭Robxxx7

Levy has used up all his 9 lives ... time he went and took that gooner Sherwood with him.

I would like to see De Boer come to us but in all honesty he'd be mad to come to us

When FDB took over the Ajax job the club was in crisis. Jol had been sacked because they were doing so poorly and the board had all resigned. He was thrown in at the deep end, as a caretaker, but led them to the league title with 14 straight wins. Maybe he's exactly what we need?!

I know people will say the Dutch league is crap. Though the Ajax team he took over was struggling in that crap league before he came along.

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭oppiuy

    We need an appointment ASAP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 133 ✭✭awkwardboy

In my view, it has to be Hoddle until the end of season. After that though is another matter. Any decent candidates won't walk away from their current jobs at this stage of the season. Sticking with Sherwood is too much of a risk, he's unproven and quite frankly if he's not up to it we'll end up in the bottom half of the table in May.

    I agree .. he's the fella i want .. i don't think he will come though
.. he's a got a good thing going at Ajax and built a very good team .. would you give all that up to work with Levy ? i wouldn't ..

Money talks! As does the exposure of living in London. If he fancied the challenge I'm sure there could be a compromise.
