Small BBQ for two, marinated fillet of pork and some mixed veg, ciabatta to mop up the lovely juices.

We had barbecued pork steak in a char siu marinade with potato salad, a tomato/lettuce salad, sweetcorn, onions roasted in tinfoil and coleslaw. And as far as Mr. Dizzy is concerned it's not a barbecue unless there are a few sausages thrown on too...

About time I joined in here!

So, I found a pasta maker in my press, and decided to make a meal i have been planning on making a long time:

Ricotta and egg ravioli with brown butter.

Alongside, i made some roast asparagus with panchetta, spinach salad and some prosciutto.

It all worked really really well. Not too much work even. Two things, i used too much ricotta and i left too much pasta on the edges of the ravoili. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing! Lucky I had help for the rolling of the pasta too, there was a lot of it:)

Bonus, the screw came off the pasta maker, so i get to keep it on the counter forever.

Last night was cold food as it was so warm.

    So:
Cold roast chicken (cooked a couple of hours earlier),
    Butter bean and courgette salad,
    Carrot and tomoato salad,
    Potato salad,

    followed by:
    Lemon Tart and ice cream.

There's some cold roast chicken in the fridge, and a bowl of chicken stock for another dinner.

    @dibkins,

Welcome to the forum and what a 1st post :)

Wasn't the weather (in Cork anyhow) so nice last night?

Myself and Mrs. Loire went for a nice walk along the Lee Fields and then went to Ramen (Wilton) last night - had Yaki Soba and it was delish. Washed it down with a Singha beer which was also very good.

Not a bad Wed night and no washing up ;):p

    Loire.

Thanks everyone:) 5unflower has been tempting me to join for a while. I was the lucky recipient of one or two of the dinners she posted here:P

Pasta maker still attached. I don't have a pliers, so we tried can opener (little narrow part on it), spanner and the nutcracker that you can see hiding behind the machine, all helped along with various buffers. Nothing worked. I'm going to have to make an investment in some tools I think!

A lazy evening... Half a cooked roast chicken from the local deli & a great big heap of egg, cucumber, tomato, rocket & scallion salad that I left over from lunch.

Last night my boyfriend cooked roast lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly, it was beautiful, juicy and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Everyone had seconds and there's feck all of it left.

No idea what we'll have today....I'm in the mood for fish but we'll see what himself says.

Went to Etto last night having wanted to go for ages. It's just on Merrion Row.
Had the early bird - great value - 3 courses for 28.
Starter - chicken liver terrine with sourdough and prunes, absolutely fantastic.
Main - cod with tiny shrimp and various moussy/foamy sauces. very good.
Desert- flourless chocolate cake, dark decadent, moist, intensely chocolaty cake. With orange flavoured caramel. And sour cream ice cream. Perhaps the best chocolate dessert I've had in the last few years.
Just typing it now makes me feel all lovely inside.

Too hot to cook so market bacon bread and cheese with olives & semi-sundried tomatoes which aren't pictured.
I am in love with Irish cheeses at the moment.

Prawns and green beans with a spicy pickle (from Iyer's) some chicken stock to loosen it and a squeeze of lime juice served with red cargo rice.

(Sorry Gautham for using your pickle with meat and shellfish :o)

I bought a pre-roasted Chicken in the supermarket. With the humidity I didn't want to put on the oven and I've been craving Roast Chicken for days. I got some things from the salad bar, coleslaw, spinach, pesto and pine nut salad, and pasta salad. Washed down with some chilled pink prosecco.

Had a bbq this evening, burgers and sausages always look the same. So here's what the other plates look like. Bottem left was watermelon, strawberries, feta and mint. Saw someone mention it here, it was beautiful. Next to that was prawns with crushed garlic and cracked pepper, from Mrs Fox. Beautiful. Top left. Cannellini beans with thinly sliced red onion and mint. Very refreshing. And finally, shredded red cabbage with grated carrot, and a drop of orange cordial. The rest were just toppings for the burgers. Lovely dishes, first time we haven't been stuffed from eating loads of meat.

We had OscarBravo's pork & prawn burgers. What can I say but BRAVO!

The burgers were savage, we will be having them again tomorrow. Had them with a huge mixed salad and a squidge of mayo. Really really nice flavours; very unusual and we loved it. They were also really easy to make and pretty cheap (we got frozen prawns in Lidl which kept the cost down).

They'll be added to our regular rotation of dinners. Thanks Oscar!

Had Moules marinière tonight. Made them last week but I think they were much nicer the second time round.

Such great value, but cleaning the mussels is such a pain.

So I ended up at a vegan BBQ last night. It was actually pretty nice.

    Quinoa burgers
    Mango salsa
    Lime rice
    Veg fajitas
    Salad with vegan ranch dressing
    BBQ veg
    Cajun chickpea patty
Cabbage rolls stuffed with quinoa and veg

For dessert it was little vegan cheesecake bites and homemade vegan twix like bars.

Still was craving a massive beef burger though :pac:

Pan fried hake with lemon thyme butter, steamed new spuds, green beans and a tiny bit of left over tomato basil and garlic salad.

Haha, snap! I didn't have any garlic though, but there were enough flavours in them without. Will try again with the garlic definitely. They were a bit hard to keep together while cooking though, they were fairly wet. Might be because the prawns had been frozen? Not sure. Great anyway!

Lamb Rendang fresh from the stove. A good buddy is very very ill at the moment, thought I'd surprise him with a bowl of this traditional Eid dish tomorrow. But for tonight I'll have them with sticky rice.

Fresh from the market. Ontario carrot and apple salad with miso dressing. Sugar snap peas with caramelized onions and zatar. And chicken and chorizo stuffed yellow zucchini. Mmm. Nice glass of wine.
