    Hi all,

Heading up to Dublin tomorrow with my Mum to see Andre Rieu. Will probably do a bit of shopping beforehand so think it might be best to get a bit of dinner before we head back to the hotel to get ready to go to the 02.

Anybody any suggestions on a cosy bar that does really good bar food - in the general grafton street area?

    Thanks :)

The Duke on Duke street is not bad for a carvery, if that's what you are into.

I like The Bank on Dame Street.

Cheers that's kind of what we want alright, or anywhere with a good steak!

P.Macs on Stephen St (where Bia Bar) used to be do nice pub grub. I don't think they have steak but I had a delicious fish and chips last week - lovely piece of fresh cod.

O'Neills on Suffolk has a decent carvery.

+1 for The Bank and O'Neill's, also The Long Stone does nice food. It's just behind Pearse St Garda Station.

Pub grub is pretty much all the same, best you can hope for is mundane and they go downhill from there.

Always preferred sinnots carvery over o'neills when I worked on grafton st. back in the day. They always has 2 choices of beef, one being a bit juicier and rarer than you'd normally get elsewhere, the other being you standard, cooked to death bit of beef. Could be all changed now though

The Farm on Dawson st. I know it's a restaurant but delicious tasty food. Check it out online and see what you think.

    Gross generalisation, to be honest.
There is really decent pub food out there, and it's not all carvery either.

The Quay Bar in temple bar do really nice food and it's quite reasonable for lunch too

^^ Unfortunately, you'll also have to contend with some muppet brutalising Oasis tunes while you're there though :pac:

The Exchequer on Exchequer St (surprisingly!) is nice for pub grub with more of a gastro pub vibe.

    +1 on the Porterhouse.

I don't like O'Neills carvery though. I find you get very little meat compared to other places and the quality isn't the greatest. Plus expensive pints

Synnotts near the Stephens Green centre do a very good lunchtime menu...my particular favourite is thier Irish Stew...made with big chunks of lamb and proper potatoes..i think as a daily special it's about 8 quid or so.
