I am just wondering what topics should you learn for the diospoireacht? Is it the same as the aiste in terms of topics? How many topics should you have prepared? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks

Normally aistes and díospóireachts are pretty much the same in terms of vocab, just you do the debate opening, sainmhiniú and would be more persuasive in a díospóireacht.

Prepare the usual topics- gaeilge/gaeltachtaí, the environment, education system, economic crisis/recession, problems for young people etc. Don't learn off whole essays though because if you spout a preprepared exam you won't get as many marks as you're not answering the questions. Like for the environment, you could learn one off about the environment as a whole and talk about tsunamis and earthquakes, and it could ask you about ireland and if we care about the environment. It'll be obvious it's learned off. I'd say learn vocab, generic phrases and sentences and if you have a good standard of grammar you can formulate your own.

Stick to recent events, water charges, property, abortion if you want to relate to governmental issues.

Thanks very much! What would be a probable topic or is it hard to say? Would you just have to learn a lot of topics and hope for the best?
