I make mini potato skins, (some thing like these http://www.healthy-delicious.com/2013/11/mini-buffalo-blue-potato-skin-recipe/) as you can adapt the filling to suit your guests.

Or buffalo wing strips (strips of boneless chicken thigh or breast cooked to a chicken wing recipe).

Sorry misread your OP and thought you were looking for appetizers!

As a starter I usually serve a chilli garlic prawn and smoked salmon salad with rocket leaves.
