Much media reports of financial problems facing some GPs. Any idea of how much is their income from GMS patients has been reduced. I have a feeling that in the past substantial income was earned and it is now been pegged back to more realistic levels.

Gross GMS payments have been cut 5 times over the course of the recession by 32-40% (rural GP's were hit by higher cuts).
GP's private income has also reduced by 25 % plus.

The OECD figures the government publishes are know to be inaccurate as they compare GP's gross income with other countries net income (ie in Ireland they include staff salaries, rent, running costs of the business).
