Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Generally Apple products are pretty standardized in price, and if you buy from the US, you risk paying Customs if they are shipped over.

If you know someone in the US coming to Ireland they might bring it for you. Prices in Hong Kong are pretty good but not much use unless you know someone flying to Ireland from Hong Kong.

You can sometimes get good deals in the refurb store as well:

Also is it possible to unlock an american phone which is using the carriers from there ie AT&T and for it be fully functional over here once unlocked?and would you need a voltage transformer?

As far as I'm aware, if you buy a network locked phone you are tied into a contract, assuming you can get a phone not tied to a contract, they are still not easy to unlock. I don't think they can be unlocked currently (could be wrong).

And assuming you get a phone unlocked, I think it should work in Ireland.... There are differences with 4G bands, so not sure how they match, so it might work on 3G but not 4G.

In terms of voltage converters, the chargers don't care, I used my Irish phone in the states no problem, and I charged my canadian phone in Ireland. Likewise with laptops, the chargers are universal, just need a plug adapter for 2-pin to 3-pin.

Contract means bill pay. You sign up for usually 24 months and are tied in.

Most iphones are the same, but the new 5c/5s have different 4G(LTE) chips so some will work here some will not.

Also, some iphones are different (CDMA version), which are used with US Sprint and Verizon. They won't work in Ireland AFAIK.

If you buy the unlocked version from the apple store, yes.

Very easy to unlock a contracted phone through eBay or any number of unlocking sites but the prices vary by the network. Very simple to get a costing, though.
