    hi,

If I'm going for a drink around O'connell street I'd always pop over the river to Cassidys on Westmoreland. All the pubs around O'connell seem a bit "divey" or have a concentration on live music or food. What's the best pub around O'connell street do people think that's a bit different from what I've described?

    cheers

The Black Sheep, if that's within the "around" zone.

The Oval on Middle Abbey street is a grand spot for a pint.

The Sackville Lounge is a great wee pub, albeit maybe too 'divey' for you, given it's a concern. It's salubrious compared to the Welcome Inn though.

I really like Madigans right on O'Connell Street itself, quiet place, does some pretty decent platters. Least, did a year ago.
