Open images in Chrome new tab - how to open & fit to browser size?

    Any time I right click an image and choose "Open image in new tab" it is so zoomed in I can't see what the hell it is. I'm just looking at random pixels.

    Is there any way I can make images automatically resize when I open them in a new tab?

    I know it's possible in Chrome because it's what used to happen on my last laptop ... before it died. So I can't go back and check the settings. Either way there is no option to resize images in the settings...

    CTL+ to zoom , CTL- to zoom out.
    Chrome will remember these settings.
