Gameweek 17 Matchday Thread

"Twas the last gameweek before Christmas,
    when all through the forum,
    not a banker was certain,
    except Seamus Coleman.

    Our hopes were all hung,
on the poll that ne're fail,
    In hopes that Saint Luis,
    Soon would prevail.

    Now Ramsey, now Yaya,
    now Turner and Silva,
    on Ozil, on Oscar
    on Hazard and Whittingham.

To the top of the table,
    to the top 100k,
    now dash away,
    to the FSA.

    And then in a twinkling,
    I heard on the Twitter,
    that Suarez was coming,
    and wouldn't miss a sitter.

    Cometh the hour,
    and cometh the man,
    Aguero and Rooney,
    can only look on.

    A wink of his eye,
and a twist of his head,
    soon gave me to know,
    we had nothing to dread.

    He sprang to the goal,
to his team gave a whistle,
    and away they all flew,
    with 3 bonus for Luis.

    But I heard him exclaim,
as Cardiff looked out of sight,
    Happy Christmas to all,
    and to all a goodnight."

May all our other 10 players bring us an early Christmas present too :)

    Very good Mr. Prodston.

Not feeling confident at all about this week. I've put Ridgewell in instead of Chester. Not sure if that's the right call but we'll see. Like a lot in here I need a fit Rooney.

I've 5 playing Monday night - Terry, Mert, Hazard, Ozil and Ramsey. I'm not expecting a high scoring week.

If I finish the week inside the top 20k (currently at 8k) I'll be happy. The one thing I'm hoping may help me is I didn't take a hit and plenty of people seem to have taken one,or even two.

    Team:

    Mig
    Terry Mert Coleman Ward
    Hazard Ozil Ramsey
    Rooney Suarez (c) Lukaku

    Harper Morrisson Brady B. Turner

Main focus is on Coutinho & Nasri who are key differentials playing weak teams. Then Gabbidon to see if he can get an unlikely clean sheet. If Rooney doesn't play I have Morrison coming in, so interest in that game either way. Could do with Liverpool conceding.

According to Red Cafe the Utd squad for today is

Johnstone, Dave, Evra, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Büttner, Adnan, Tony V, Fletcher, Giggs, Clev, Zaha, Young, Kagawa, Hernandez and Welbeck.

Allegedly the guy who tweeted this was outside team hotel.

Have absolutely no idea how genuine it is, but if accurate then no Rooney and if he's not in the squad could be a serious doubt for the busy Xmas period

Really unsure who to play. Mertesaker or Ward is one dilemma. I've Oscar, Ramsey and Hazard in too but may take one out for Shelvey as I don't want too many players in the same game.
    Decisions....decisions.

Another week I ain't feeling great about. Need to pick up points after last weeks red arrows!

    Team at the minute is..

    Mig
    Mert, Coleman, Gabbidon
    Yaya, Shelvey, Ramsey, Hazard
    Suarez(c), Lukaku, Rooney

Rooney could be getting changed to Welbeck soon though!

Brilliant post Mr P, possibly the best ever on this forum in my short lifetime.

I couldn't care less how my captain does for the first time ever, if he gets sent off after missing three penalties it will hardly matter.

I'm hoping for a return from Coutinho and Arnie.
Will only play one of Mert and Terry, Mert seems more likely to have a clean sheet but Terry would be more likely to score I'd say, that's the only decision I have to make now.

Thanks. After taking an 8 point hit I'm sure I will need all the luck you can offer.

If he was touch and go for the game today though, why do you think he'd be a serious doubt for the rest of Xmas?

Surely if he was due a fitness test for today's game and had a chance of making it, he should be ready by Thursday.

I'm playing both in the hope Mourinho will park the bus. With 5 playing, a 0-0 draw would net me 21 points from the 5 of them. I'd snap the hand off an offer like that. Chances are Terry or Mert could also get bonus in a 0-0.

I wasn't going to play Terry but might as well give him one last appearance before I transfer him out.

That guy is a spoofer. United don't stay in a team hotel for games at Old Trafford.

    Fantastic OP Mr.P! :D

Would be great to see Ronney out, opted for Negredo myself to upgrade Ozil to Walcott. Have a -16 to absorb this week so not expecting much from this GW.

Have Dawson ahead of Chester and Terry. Sounds right or...?

the only reason I would have signed terry is for. His goal threat .....so I'd just play him every week

In fairness I was expecting Chelsea to be ruthless at the back under Mourinho. With the new bonus points system I was seeing tons of BPs for Terry. In addition he has always been good for a couple of goals. I got him in for all these reasons and made a tidy profit on him (I plan to ditch him in the coming weeks).
Away to the Emirates could see him score alright but also get a red card...

Ok I did it.....a last minute -4 of Howson out for Coutinho :D

Ravel to come in for Rooney if he doesn't play.

lockdown, was tempted all morning by an 8 point hit but opted against it

Not at all confident this week, bring it on :pac:

Everyone seems to have same headache over defenders. Merts or Dawson was mine, just switched Merts in and Dawson out and by the times I've finished telling you that we'll be updating.

Don't usually do 11.29 switches so hoping it pays.

Benched Terry, can't see Arsenal not scoring, and Walcott is my differential who my GW is pretty much pinned on.

Now I'll have time to go back and read the OP....

Transferred Rooney in for Aguero early in the week & put him captain. Decided to run with it....... Suarez is vice so it will be interesting to see how this gamble works out.

Back three played of Chester, Merts, Gabbidon. Benched Terry and Dawson.

That will make or break GW along with whether Walcott and Silva deliver.

FFS Cup opposition has same Rooney problem, and also has Morrison coming if of Roo doesn't play.

No points hit so I hope I'm 4 up on most teams already. I'll need it

crikey, forgot Liverpool were first up.

The dreaded captain in the first game scenario :(

Not that I would have given to anyone else even if I had realised mind...

yeah pretty much every1 that takes it even half seriously is gonna captain suarez, altho I actually have 2 Liv def (Mignolet and Johnson) so that may be somewhat of a differential. Clean sheet please

I thought it was brilliant, just surprised it was a Sky production that ripped into that reporter. That reporter yesterday was an absolute k**b and the assistant manager was in an impossible position.

It really showed Sky up I thought, and was a level of abuse beyond acceptable. Jeff and the lads have risen even higher in my eyes now. (Rant Over :pac:)

Done a recreation of the Cardiff presser yesterday when the assistant manager stepped in for Mackay, some producer lad instead of Stelling. Cringeworthy stuff

To watch the United game (Have Evans) or the City game (Silva and Negredo)

I can't see myself getting through. The fella I face has 160 points less than me for the year but has alot better team this GW given the fixtures.

He only has one Arsenal player (Ramsey) and one Chelsea (Hazard). My over reliance on those two teams is going to kill me.

My only hope is Rooney playing and having a stormer because he plumped for Negredo as his Aguero replacement.

Have only 4 players in common with my opponent. Rooney/Morrison, Ramsey, hazard, suarez(c).

Lots of way it could go, he has Bannan and Ozil in MF vs my Silva and Walcott, so hopefully can out score there. He got Negredo for Aguero where I got Lukaku. But at the back he has better fixtures in DDG, Brown, Coleman and debuchy where I have Howard, Chester, Merts and gabbidon.

You need a 0-0 in the Aresnal game, I need a goal fest for Arsenal.
