Using old oil (mgo) ?

Hi,

My neighbors old steel oil tank is rotting with time and there is still oil in it. He's been on gas for years. It would suit everyone if we can transfer his old oil into my tank. There would be about 150 + ltrs of his old oil (it's red btw)

Any problem doing this. Anything special I should do ?
I would try to filter it before putting into my tank.
Other points:
It's gotta be 15 + years old.
Prob has a little water in the tank but we'll be taking the oil from the feed pipe which should mean that we avoid the crap on the floor of the tank and any water which should be on the top of the old oil.

I'd be mixing it with about 600 ltrs of new mgo in my tank.
I'd hate to ruin my 600 ltrs of good oil.

Not worth the risk of contamination. And it could damage your oil pump. It would cost you a lot more on repairs.

Water is at bottom of oil tank as oil is less dense.

I wouldn't touch it. If it is red it is either from the North or older than Moses. It has been green down here for over 25 years. It is worth about €150. You could easily do more moneys worth of damage to your burner, tank and fuel system.

That's kinda what I worried about. Could have cost me a grand to save 150.
