Best boxing club in Cork city?

    A French friend of mine has just moved to Cork and he's looking to join a boxing club here. He's not a noob, he's been boxing for about 7 years.

    What area is he living in? There's 27 clubs affiliated to the Cork County Boxing Board now and they cover most areas of the city and much of the county. Some have waiting lists though and are not open for membership. In the city area you have loads, for example Fr Horgans, Northside, Glen and Sunnyside on the Northside of the city, Togher, Loughmahon, Setanta on the Southside - and that's only a few of the city ones. Also there's the likes of Riverstown, Watergrasshill, St Colmans and Ballincollig on the outskirts of the city.

    As someone that's been boxing for 7 years he probably wants to take part in local competition in which case the Boxing Clinic (as good as it is..) isn't really the best option for him.

    Let us know what area he's in and we can try to put you on to one of them.

    EDIT: Re City Centre - Leeside /Lough (Lough Community Ctr) or Sunnyside (Off Shandon St) are probably the closest to the city.
