Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Horizon UPC:Which Wifi Channel ?

    Installed Horizon box 4 days ago and as expected (from advance reading on boards) WiFi strength with default settings at least is down versus former Cisco router from UPC.

    Per tips in other threads I have now set Channel Bandwidth to 20 Mhz only and fixed Channel to 11 and will monitor for improvement.

    My academic (?) question is why not set Channel Bandwidth to Automatic versus 1/6/11 as recommended ? Wouldn't access point dynamically seek out best of 13 channels if set to Automatic ?

    I always find ch11 works best and ch7. Often tried Automatic on various routers but never works as well as setting the frequency.

    I use inSSIDsr to tell me what channels are least congested.

    @ Steve. Set to channel 11. Did see some improvement, thanks. Still low strength/non-existent (relative to former UPC Cisco Router) at back of house rooms and seems to drop out as measured on OOkla 'Speedtest'.

    @Wabbit ears: Thanks for reference.

    I still have the old but satisfactory Cisco router. What are the high level step-by-step and connections to disabling the wifi on the Horizon box and enabling the old but satisfactory Cisco router ?

    It's a shambles. An absolute shambles. I ordered the new horizon package with 200mbps download speed. Not only was the range 10 times weaker than the previous UPC box, when I done a speed test right beside the box I was only getting 16mbps download speed. I rang them up and they have sent out a new separate box for my WiFi. So even though the slogan is "everything in one box" I now have a tv and a router box.

    The trouble hasn't ended there. The range is just as bad and the download speed varies from 45 mbps to 0.1 mbps which is what it is currently at.

    I am utterly disgusted with the service. The rudeness from the person I got on the phone was unbelievable also.
