Christmas Visitor

Looking for guidance for Christmas day, I have two Dachshunds one is the boss and while the other is very vocal about his territory, he's never done more than bark. We'll have a fox terrier visiting for Christmas day (with some human escorts) and while they have got on great when they were pups, having sleepovers and walks together, they had a "smackdown" experience a couple of years back. The boss Dachshund nipped the Fox Terrier and later rushed him, snarling at him. Subsequent walks together have been possible but very standoffish and totally supervised. We put this down to territorialism or boss dogism and afterwards never left them alone together and we will not have to on the day either. However, we don't want to shut them up in separate rooms while we eat, but the room we are eating in will be jammed with furniture so if something kicks off we'll be struggling to sort them out.

    Any advice?

    yeah.keep them in different rooms.
I doubt anyone's advice here will change the fact that they will not get on with each other.
    I stand corrected though

Keeping them in different rooms could mean damage to the inside of two doors as they try to join the party. :-(
    Thank you all the same.

How about sticking up a playpen in the room you're in? If the Fox Terrier is okay with this, put him in, and leave the Dachshunds out, or vice versa!

We'd struggle to find space in the room itself as well as trying to get a playpen on christmas eve. But baby gates on the utility and/or the hall might be doable. Thank You wise woman of the woof woofs!

Argos have a pressure mount gate for €30 atm - we got one yesterday to keep the pup away from the tree and presents :p
