Plus the rain is driving hard.

Picking up again in the Tuam area of county Galway.. was getting worried that i'd cancelled the rare opportunity to go out for the sake of a light breeze

Make sure you charge your mobiles!! I seriously think there's going to be a hell of a lot of power outages over the next few hours. Never seen it quite this bad.

Winds will probably be at there strongest between about midnight and 8 am in this part of the country. Strong near coasts, more gusty inland.

Another RyanAir and Air Lingus flight are set to land in Cork in a few mintues. Wonder if the weather will make them divert elsewhere?

Don't let the wind stop you from a good night out in Tuam. You are well inland there and should be fine.

Getting nasty in cork. The wind had died down a bit but it's audible where it wasn't earlier.

Very strong winds here in cork. Just had a wooden panel blown down which was separating our house from the neighbours.

Getting a bit louder in Cork city here. I came down from Dublin earlier, wouldve been getting in at 10 and walking home then. Got in at 5....think its been a beneficial idea.

Shannon had flights diverted away to other airports namely Dublin and Cork earlier this evening. With change of direction the fortunes between Cork and Shannon is being reversed.

Probably some outages nothing new other than a localised fault in Mayfield showing up on Powercheck.
