Three more flights due in to Cork tonight, all Aer Lingus callsigns: see here for the details. The first is actually an Aer Arann puddle-jumper from Edinburgh i.e. I am so glad I'm not on board that one, trying to land at any airport in Ireland tonight.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Pressure dropping like a stone here in North Kildare. Currently 964. Temp from 1 this morning to 10 now. My anemometer isn't in a great position so is unreliable-highest wind speed so far is 29 kph but feel like it should be higher. Should be an interesting and sleepless night.

In the time it took to write this post, pressure has dropped more and temp has increased.

    Diverted Shannon,

the other two have already done go-arounds.

Wind varying from 18 to 50 knots , very unpredictable for an approach

Turning south again, trying to land in Shannon for a 2nd time, already diverted away from Cork, its AMS-ORK.

South sligo gusts coming and going worst since 9 - my dogs refuse to go out - as bad as the winds week before christmas but more prolonged and sustained. Thanks to all the weather professionals on here and to everyone for updates!

Belfast is not doing any better, planes are just circling there at the moment. Heard over liveatc they have a problem with the runway whatever that would be. At the moment the wind is blowing straight down runway 16 at Dublin, so if that continues there will be no real issues. If They can't land in Dublin, they'll be diverted to the UK

Just in from collecting a few windswept and damp Wren boys in Dingle.
Lots of small branches and wheelie bins everywhere and violent gusts shaking the car in the exposed parts of the road. Also some squally showers.
Someone asked if it'd be a good idea to go to Slea Hd to look at the waves!! Not a chance but might do it tomorrow when it dies down a bit.

Wind starting to roar here in Galway city was down by silverstrand beach half hour ago was really bad down there if you got out of the car you'd be blown away saw some people video-ing the waves from their car wisely enough!

What the flights are doing, the transport links, esb and road issues are all very relevant to posters tonight and are vital information to have. In one spot is the best for everyone (as is usually the case in the weather forum) if the moderators don't mind

I would prefer to have everything here and then a separate model thread for official weather updates.

Edit: Apologies Pistolpetes11, I posted as you did

It should ease off for a while now and then pick up again late in the night / early hours of the morning.

Pressure dropped to 957 and holding steady, winds have dropped off as well and no rain at ythe moment.

Feels like the eye of the storm!

The goings on at the country's airports are as a direct result of the storm and listening to the feed is the best way of seeing the effects in realtime and getting updates of the severity of the wind across the country.
