Are conditions to worsen? In Waterford City and while it was very stormy it has quietened alot. Can we expect worse for this area as the night goes on?

    It hasn't even started yet!

A slate flew off the roof and spotted it hurtling past my upstairs bedroom window about a half an hour ago.
Landlord informed! Luckily nobody was walking past at the time...

Getting a bit worried here, never seen wind like this, the roof is banging outside, at least i think it is the roof.

In East Cork and while windy it doesn't seem overly bad.

Maybe we are just used to stormy weather down South?

Lights flickering in Watergrasshill. Reckon we could lose power soon.

    Visiting Dog not concerned.
    Wife reaching for candles.
Yellow Ledbetter reaching for a bottle of whiskey.

Thanks to all on this thread. Great source of info.

It appears to me that the "tail" on Sat24 imagery is becoming more evident. But I'll leave it to others to judge whether a sting jet is indeed forming.

Hearing more emergency services around Cork (city), either ambulances or fire brigade.

What's the significance of the tail ?

    Met Eireann 2249 update
Stormy overnight; gale force south to southwest winds will give severe and possibly damaging gusts. The heavy rain will give way to occasional showers, some heavy and prolonged in western and northern counties with a risk of thunder. Lowest temperatures 3 to 7 degrees.

Anyone know what the max gust recorded is so far?

A lot of dramatic reports so far but the highest I've seen is 64kts which is slightly less than was recorded here in the 'non-event' the other day

What time is this expected to go on till? I'm just outside Cork tonight and it's wild for sure. Power has flickered a few times but still on.

More concerned about the car really which is parked out of eyeshot. It's in beside a hedge though so hopefully that'll shelter it a bit!

Its beginning to sound angry in North Co. Galway. not helped by the rain lashing on my southwest facing window... probably doesn't sound too bad at all on the other side of the house! Lightning damaged a few of our things on the 23rd. Hopefully no damage will be done to the house and cars by tomorrow!

For any-one using candles, just make sure they are well away from the christmas tree and other flammable objects ;)

It's just gotten quite scarily violent up on the hills over looking Cork City. I'm south facing and wow, very dramatic and quite sustained gust which seems to be almost dead south.

There are some really big trees around here! I'm getting worried.
