Suddenly MUCH worse in Galway. I wouldn't want to hear stronger gusts than this, and I adore a windy night.

Extremely gusty here in Douglas in Cork, dies down a bit and then roars again every 15 to 20 minutes.

I feel so sorry for all those folks on the airplanes that are struggling to land in Dublin and elsewhere, be careful out there everyone.

South side of Cork. Wind isn't as bad as it was at 5-7pm, then again, the southside is quite sheltered and i'm surrounded by hills at the south and north i believe. Roof of our garden shed has caved in and my bedroom window has dislodged itself. Hoping it doesn't fall off!

Latest data from the storm has a Max gust of 120km/h recorded at Waterford Airport and 93km/h at our Waterford City station. Winds have eased a little from the earlier highs but they will increase again soon to peak levels. Gusts of 140km/h possible especially on our coasts.

That was posted just a few mins ago on Facebook. AA had reports that a trampoline was 'loose' out by the Airport.

Here in Tramore, the actual strong winds didn't appear to last very long. Its much calmer now in comparison.

Some really violent gusts here in the last few minutes in Headford in Galway.
Staying with family here for Christmas and sleeping in a converted attic.

Suffice to say it's quite noisey. I'd guess if the gusts get any more extreme there could well be roof damage.

Things beginning to pick up here in a lower part of Tipperary. I'd hate to be living on the Glen of Aherlow tonight! I hear it's manic.

Crazy that people are being diverted to another country altogether, what a nightmare.

Very severe at the moment here.
The damage must be large scale out and about and it wont become apparent until the morning.

Last decent storm I can remember was March 08 or 09 (memory not great). Remember it being much stormier than this at the time, though strongest winds have yet to hit.

Anyone living along the river dodder in Dublin? Is it flooding?
I walked over it in Milltown just before 11PM, it looked pretty normal. It doesn't flood that easily, it takes a sustained rainfall on its catchment area. Still, big chunks of tree and debris have been known to cause water to back up at some bridges e.g. Donnybrook Rd.

It's a relatively small country and a pretty big storm ! At least we've a lot of airports in proximity in the UK. It beats landing in some remote military base or something as can happen in less populated parts of the US.

Still pretty nasty here in Cork.
