Things beginning to pick up here in a lower part of Tipperary. I'd hate to be living on the Glen of Aherlow tonight! I hear it's manic.

My granny and uncles live about 5/8 km from the Glen. We're supposed to be going to visit them tomorrow. Lots of huge trees near my grannys house, in her front garden. Hope no damage is done to them or to the house.

I'm out at Lavey, tree fell near Lavey GAA pitch, power turned off for fire fire fighters safety, according to my source in the esb. Power was off for around 30-40 minutes.

Think he means the one from Leeds, I wonder were they low on fuel and had to land?

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Whats crazy is that any airports are allowed stay open!
Its not the runway that's the problem. I'd say company wan'tz them to try anything they can do safely to get in.

Prob the crew/plane are tasked straight out on the last segments.

111kph is nothing exceptional, I'd expect it to get a lot windier than that down there yet

That pressure reading isn't accurate. Probably closer to 965.

Our house pressure barometer on our hall wall in Tralee has dropped to the lowest our Dad has ever seen in 40 years of it hanging there. Unsurprisingly, it's pointing to Stormy!!

My father just remarked the same thing earlier, This barometer has hung on the corridor wall for over 30 years and it is now reading off the charts. I am located in South Kerry and we are really getting the full brunt of it here now.

Im not too far from Valentia station and being honest we've had some fairly big gusts recently. That could have been passed already. Friends reporting power gone locally in various places here

Gust of just over 100kph recorded in Cobh tonight. http://86.43.106.118/weewx/

Seems to have died off a bit in the last few hours and has changed direction so not as scarey as earlier.

Power up all night too. Not sure if any local damage as I ain't getting out of bed to check!

was horrendously stormy here since mid evening. Then without warning, it all stopped and went quiet... Methinks the worst is yet to come.

Just spoke to a family member working in Dublin airport and all is going well there. The wind is more or less in line with the active runway so no problems expected unless wind direction shifts significantly, particularly for the wide bodied transatlantics due in early tomorrow

Planes diverting to Manchester, Shannon, Birmingham, from Dublin I would not call that all going well. Ryanair just landed in Dublin.

    Regards Wez
