Liverpool incredibly unlucky to be 2-1 down there.

Liverpool's were by far the better chances and if the linesman hadn't made an utterly awful decision things could be a bit different.

Still. With the way we're playing there's every chance we can go on to win the game.

I think City will probably score again and it'll be hard to stop them repeatedly hitting us on the break if we're chasing the game.

We need a very early goal.

Haven't been hugely impressed by City. They've played well enoug but I would've expected more spells where they were attacking in waves, such is their quality.

Great half but that linesman's decision was crazy. Skrtel getting away with a few fouls on Kompany.

Disappointed in Mingo there, haven't seen him do anything like that before. He can usually be relied upon to not **** around with the shot stopping.

Having said that, Skrtel's role in that goal shouldn't be forgotten. Mare of a first half for him.

Whatever about Mignolet's error (which was a last ditch save attempt), surely Sakho must take blame for that goal.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,006 ✭✭✭donfers

why is skrtel so poor at defending corners

poor game for mignolet to choose to make his first howler of the season

two bad goals for pool to give away but vulnerabilities at the back have been in evidence all season

scandalous decision from the assistant ref to raise his flag on sterling, he was clean through

would have been an amazing goal for coutinho if he scored but hart did well

other than that a fairly even game, both sides going toe to toe blow for blow, all those who said lfc would get battered looking rather foolish

citeh only ahead due to goalkeeping error and assistant refs flag - big breaks have gone their way, hope liverpool can turn it around though mason not giving suarez a thing and letting kompany manhandle him all game

Good game this. Michael Owen very annoying on commentary. That goal at the end of the 1st half could be crucial, think City might take control now. Bar Suarez they are a far better team than Liverpool right now.

And for the effort Negredo had a bit beforehand.

He's been too quick to rush out. Can't be doing that against the likes of City.

Don't think he's confident in his shooting. He always delays it and looks to pass first.

Christ I can't listen to Owen anymore, talking Pantilmon down when he's not on the pitch anything to ensure Hart gets a smooth ride.

Need to keep the head now should have more chances in the second, midfield need to tighten up.

Hopefully the Referee gets a look at the Sterling descision at half time.

He has a half to make up for his official.

Great game, both teams going for it.

Liverpool have played the better football IMO, but City look really clinical,

Some of the Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez combinations have been delightful.

0 chance. He hit it with the outside of his boot ffs, practically straight at him.

We are being such bottlers. How is our defense being coached?

Skrtel was the one that pulled away from Negredo when he should have followed him.

LOL what about Skrtel wanting to swap shirts with Vinny at EVERY set piece?

Skrtel is practically assaulting Kompany at every set piece as well though.

What we have seen so far this season it shows Liverpool are as good as anything in the premier league.

Terrible decision by the lino, but would it have changed much? Liverpool scored anyway, and then conceded twice.

Well yeah... it would mean that Liverpool would have 2 goals and not 1.

    Pretty significant.

Why is there such a big deal made out of skrtel lately, every centre half for every team does the same and it's never penalized.

Suarez has been quiet enough and Liverpool have still created plenty of chances. Maybe some of the other Liverpool players are not quite as bad as some people think.

That it would now be 2-2 at the very least? Or that if LFC scored the first 2 goals City would now be under the cosh a bit?

Or are you being a dunderhead for the laugh?

I think its in our interests ,while skrtel is still on the pitch, that the ref continues to turn a blind eye to that sort of thing

Well they would have 2 goals rather than 1 for a start.

Poor decision by the lino, Couthino missing an easy chance and Mignelot f**king up have cost Liverpool so far.

should be a good 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Mignolet could have done better but you also have to say Liverpool should have defended that break better than they did.

No, they would have dropped back earlier than they did.

Well they would have 2 goals rather than 1 for a start.

That's a big jump to make, a goal changes the complexion of the game and there's absolutely no guarantee you'd score the Coutinho goal if the Sterling one was given.

Fűck me we might be losing but its great to see a Liverpool side with such style and substance.

Of course it does, I'm not complaining about it and if you want Kompany penalised for doing it then you must also want Skrtel penalised for doing worse no doubt?

I have to laugh at the people saying pool would have had 2 goals if the offside hadn't been given. If pool scored then the game would have changed from that point forward and the second goal (as it happened) wouldn't have occured.

Think Mignolet needs to be given just a little bit of slack. He was expecting Negredo to blast it.

I was the first person to point out he was doing it.

A lot of people criticizing our defense but Man City are just walking through our midfield at times.

    Agree.

The city midfield 3 are not being pressured much... Our midfield are conceding yards without tackling, sucking the forward 3 back too deep.

in that case you could see citeh's 2 goals may not have happened

the only FACT here is that it was a horrendous decision and more than likely cost liverpool a goal, that's it!

Not sure what you mean. They didn't drop back after Coutinho scored so why would they have for the offside one?

That's my point. There's no guarantee of anything. Although City scoring at the Etihad is pretty much a guarantee :pac:

Still a terrible decision mind, I'm not arguing anything.

True Liverpool might have scored 3, who knows, goals change the dynamic of a game.

Think Joe deserves a lot of credit for that save, it was close to him but still required great reactions. Panti wouldn't have gotten down for that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,887 ✭✭✭✭klose

The best part of the offside call was how the last defender was literally on the line on the pitch and sterling behind it, linesman could not have had it easier.

So why were all the reacting comments saying that you'd have scored twice, including yours?

No your point was that it might not have changed anything....when the answer is it would have changed everything, as you have pointed out.
