Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm getting a new TV

Hey, as the title says I'm getting a new TV, I'm thinking 46 inches or thereabouts and I'm willing to pay around a thousand, would go a little higher if necessary and a little lower would be nice :D

I'd like 4 hdmi ports though I could make do with three, USB I'm not too fussed with but 2 or more. I'd like passive 3d and also for it to be a smart TV

I've spent some time doing some research on my own, so I'm not coming in here completely clueless, at the moment the front runner is LG 47LA690V http://www.currys.ie/Product/LG-47LA690V-Smart-3D-47-LED-TV/318114/6.9.0

I've read mostly good things about it, I was more interested in the negative and most negatives seemed to be problems individuals have with their sets which is to be expected with any piece of technology, though one review did mention a poor wifi receiver, as I will be using the Wifi this might be a slight concern but I can get about 40mb down on my phone in the sitting room so hopefully that won't be too much of an issue. The magic remote looks a bit gimmicky to me and I'm not to fussed about it.

So can anyone recommend anything better? Is there anyone reading this who has the above TV and can offer any comments? Or failing that, from people who know about these things have I made a good choice?

Any help or advice is appreciated, thanks.

Ive also been looking into similar tv and was looking at this one

    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/LG-47LA660V-Smart-3D-47-LED-TV/313941/11.2.0

    or this one

    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/LG-47LA620V-Smart-3D-47-LED-TV/314258/11.2.0

Both are in the €750 - €799 bracket

Is the one your looking at much better for the extra money.

Thanks for the reply, as for the first TV you linked, an unflattering thread here http://www.avforums.com/threads/2013-lg-tvs.1761145/ has kind of put me off, the loose screens and the other problems.

With the second one, the 200hrz processing rate is putting me off. I realise it probably isn't as simple as this, but it's my understanding that the higher processor rate the less likely motion blur is to occur, which I know can be a problem with these TVs anyway.

    Thanks for the response.

Went to Sligo today with intention of purchasing the 47LA660v but out of stock in PC World & Curry's. I placed an order for delivery in early Jan.

I went to Blanchardstown and purchased theLG 47LA690V. They had loads of the 660vs but none of the 690vs (not even a display to look at, in fact the assistant didn't think they stocked it until he looked it up on his system) it's getting delivered on Saturday though.

Hope you don't mind me piggy-backing on your thread!

We are also looking into getting a new TV and see this one in Soundstore:

    http://www.soundstore.ie/Product/Panasonic-TXL50BL6-50-FHD-Smart-WIFI-LED-TV/4687/2220.0.4

I love Panasonic TVs, wouldn't go anywhere else, but my last one was a UK version. Anyone have any comments/reviews on this particular model? Of even suggestions on other Panasonics up to €1000?

    Much appreciated!

    Hiya,

For value, this set is pretty hard to beat especially when you consider it comes with a 5year warranty worth a few hundred quid on its own!
