I dont think anyone can defend Eto'o, its a stupid challenge to make and Webb for whatever reason acknowledged it and done nothing.

Eto'o got away with one today, whats worse is Jose saying ti was a Suarez dive.

    Typical panto villian from Jose

Smart stuff about the squad from Rodgers there. Really think Smith being on the bench was about making a point to the owners that he needs funds in January.

That is all it could have been with Alberto on the bench.

Glad that some sensible Chelsea fans can see Eto'o behaviour for what it was today. If Mourinho had suggested giving Hendo a reducer early on I would not be surprised. In that regard the "tackle" might have come from any of them I guess.

Thank god the pool fans can see mou for what he is.

Was getting bored of the Rodgers Jose lovefest.

The Americans will need to see better returns on monies spent.... A lot of their transfer investments have been poorly spent.

    Really?

I have absolutely no doubt that you could pick a 20 game window for any striker and find similarly skewed numbers.

Irrespective of that, your statement about is about the most logical point I have ever read on this forum.

Either way, Liverpool have always had issues with perceived lesser teams. We don't any longer as we have a player than can make a difference.

We now have issues against perceived stronger teams - which makes as much sense as your original point. We just need more better players now that will help us move from being the 5th/6th squad to slight better.

If AiG is saying this that must mean Chelsea put in literally the worst performance of all time.

Far from it, the first half was breathtaking, the speed of the play, the control offered by Luiz, Lampard and a solid back four complimented by the genius of Hazard, Willian and Oscar and the line well led by Eto'o. Second half was tight and tense but it was a terrific example of the experience in the squad, the character of the squad and the winning mentality of the manager.

I did most of my eulogising in the first half, the subject was Eden Hazard.

I think he is trying too hard myself. I wouldn't call it trolling either because it doesn't wind me up in the slightest. He just comes across as a bit of a fool who is being controversial for the sake of it.

Are you trying to suggest that good players generally score more goals against better teams?

Think about that for a moment.

Suarez has scored 14 of his 57 league goals against the current top 8.

1 against the 2 Manchester clubs, 2 against Chelsea, 2 against Arsenal, 3 against Spuds, 3 against Everton and 2 against Newcastle.

Pretty much what you'd expect from any striker with that strike rate.

I didn't think the first was a peno. Suarez made no attempt to play the ball so of course Terry is going to touch him, cleared it out fair.

You can't jump on top and through a player to get the ball though. They are never really given though so can't be too upset.

He's a shìt ref. Bottles a decision in every big game without fail and eventually loses the run of himself when put under pressure by players

    RE: Webb.

this is basically it. no more, no less.

    Nope

Course, it wasn't me brought the stat into the thread originally so you would need to aske the OP if that was what he was trying to do maybe?

For me, its a pretty normal stat, weaker opposition are easier to score against generally.

Where a difference has been made now, is that Liverpool have a striker again who is fantastic at putting the weaker sides to the sword, someone else has made this point also, which has been lacking in the squad since about 09 I guess.

Better players are now needed to compliment him and push the team forward.

Top 4 is pretty much minimum requirement for this though as I am pretty sure he will be on his way if that doesn't happen this season.

Eto was a lucky boy it was 3 mins in he made that tackle on henderson. It was awful, high and late. Any later in the game he would have walked.

So your saying that he has only scored 6 of his 59 against the top echelon of teams.... (20%)

    Whats that? Just over 10%?

Its not a great record by any stretch, but it doesn't necessarily mean he cant do it against the big teams. There are other factors that must come into contention.

To be fair he's made worse decisions. Tries to be the players friend and does love doing that word in the ear too much for it to be effective. Didn't even give a yellow for that than gave Luiz a yellow later for dragging back a player
