We've created one chance, Eto'o took it, Liverpool had one chance too, fell to Allen when Cech pushed it away, other than that its all about the possession and decent build play.

going to be a good 2nd half.

Can't see the problem with swapping shirts at half time, don't all professional players change their shirts during the break anyway? Its going in the bin either way.

Liverpool to be lucky just behind by one. Chelsea are absolutely dictating the match - especially in midfield.

To be honest, I don't think the shirt thing makes a difference. Some player was on before saying its actually very very common, but usually done in the tunnel.

I'd rather not see it done, but I don't think it'll affect the game in any way.

Chelsea playing well, but Christ there's no way Ming should have let that past him!

Panic and knee jerking here is incredible.

Wait for the result before making judgements.

Have you never seen games change in the second half?

Explosive, dynamic, creative, brave, brilliant, Eden Hazard has been the embodiment of them all in the first half. His big game bottle was called into question before the match, it's been answered emphatically. For me, there is no other player in the league with his potential and raw talent and, under Mourinho, it all seems to be coming together.

Willian, Oscar, Lampard, Luiz, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Terry all excellent and credit to Eto'o, the poachers instinct remains and he takes his goal well.

Chelsea turned it on after the worst start, hopefully they keep that up on the second half, it's been a joy to watch.

The tougher league fixtures slowly starting to make the table look a bit more as expected for Liverpool.

Possibly but three away trips to spurs, City and Chelsea are fairly freakish.

This was our first awful performance so far this tough run.

I reckon sahko knows he's off at half time.

Hopefully Johnson will be taken off too, he looks like he couldn't give a ****.

You really give a sh*t about something so trivial?

    Trivial?
I played as a centre half for years, you don't act friendly with the striker you're marking. You kick him up and down the pitch for the 90 minutes and then shake hands afterwards

Looking at Eto'os tackle at the start again and can't understand why no cards were used? Compared to Glen Johnsons yellow for a soft elbow to the back of the head. Not sure why hazard was holding his face and not the back of his head either?

Games like this Sturridge is badly missed. Sturridge is a more disciplined CF then Suarez. In games where Liverpool don't dominate, Suarez tends to drop deep to become more involved in the build up, leaving us short up front

    Chelsea have wanted it more.

Strange how Chelsea can go from a team who 'park the bus' to a team that's playing Liverpool off the park with their intensity and passing game.I wonder at Jose as to why he doesn't set his team up to play like that in every game,it's not as if he doesn't have the players.

was someone being sarky putting on the subtitles when carra was explaining the Eto goal? :)

As you would expect, the league is funny like that. (See Man Utds climb from obscurity during their easy run of games)

Liverpool have definitely took the their opportunity to stack up the points but I think they've really overachieved this season and have hidden the fact that there isn't THAT much improvement there. Suarez is the single reason they aren't firmly mid table again this year.

No offence but I'd rather leave "the way it should be done" to the guys playing at the highest level in the world.

Its easy for Chelsea. They keep Suarez quiet as we dont have any other real quality to hurt them

If that were mid-way through the 2nd half he might have got a straight red for that. The ref didn't want to know about it just a couple of minutes in.

Liverpool have too many passengers and nobody on the bench to replace them.

Even if we get thumped, I won't be judging too much. Chelsea are a better and considerably more mature team with a more experienced manager.

Losing to Chelsea at home isn't a disaster unless you actually believe we had a genuine shot at winning the league.

We just need to maintain a bit of perspective.

Wonder what Ferguson woukd do to a player swapping shirts with the guy hes marking at half time

When Chelsea go on the attack, they're an almost unrecognisable team to the usual Jose one with the brakes half on. When the shackles are off, they're fearsome. When asked to hold, track back and tackle, it's almost as if it goes against the will of the team (and resultingly, they're not very good at it). The soul of the team - and certainly the talent nobody doubts is in the team - seems to be a lot freer and more attacking than Jose would like. Luiz, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, this is a team built for attack. How long before Jose gets in some more willing grafters?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,655 ✭✭✭Royal Legend

Allen poor, Lucas out muscled, Hendo injured from that scummy tackle by Eto, Johnson poor again, Sakho looks under constant pressure, set up Hazard for 1st and should have cut out cross for 2nd, Mig poor for second, not a good day so far, we need to improve to be able to get anything out of this.

Sure he is a liverpool player isn't he. Where would utd be without Rooney or arsenal without Ramsey or maybe even city without aguero. Really is a stupid point your making.

Dead right. Chelsea really should be 5/6 up and fans shouldn't go too hard on them. It could change in the 2nd half and they should judge then.

Gerrard is probably worse than this lot when we don't have possession, he likes a stroll more than any of the 3 in midfield today

Gerrard is brilliant when you have 70% possession against lesser teams at Anfield

Arsenal away is a primary example

He's priceless at defending set pieces the amount of times he wins a header in our box is unreal plus his set pieces going forward are priceless
We all know Lucas gives you zilch going forward so if he's not protecting the back 4 what's the point in him playing

Well, sterling has been our most effective attacker so far.

Looked like Sterling could've been going for a slow-ball to Coutinho, couldn't exactly zip ones across given Coutinho's position.

could have played it back to Suarez..

Hendo injured from that scummy tackle by Eto,

Glad to see this pointed out. The fact that it happened so early in the match and it was from Eto'o makes me wonder. Has taken him completely out of the game anyway.

chelsea controlling the game though - liverpool really need to up it second half

seems like there's a soft underbelly there, never confident they'll hold onto a lead

Certainly wouldn't be beyond Mourinho to instruct players to go out and do that.

Ashly Cole starting on the bench while Liverpool have a CB at LB illustrates the difference in depth between the squads

Suarez has had a far greater impact for Liverpool this season than Rooney for Utd or Ramsey for Arsenal. If you took his goals away from Liverpool what would their league position be? He's papering over a lot of cracks for them this season.
