Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. 165012893_1105566349001_newcastleVarsenal.jpg

    Teams

Newcastle: Tiote back from suspension, no one else of consequence injured. Ben Arfa may be(and probably should be in this game vs this opposition specifically) dropped and go back to the 4-3-3/4-5-1 that has served us so well. It'd be a brave man that starts him but maybe attacking Arsenal is the way to go?

Arsenal: Ramsey crocked which is unfortunate as he was playing so well. Wilshere back in and maybe Podolski starts? Not sure who for however. Giroud and Ozil look pretty wrecked lately but maybe this isn't the game to rest them.

Predictions: God knows with these teams. 4-4, 7-3, 0-0, could be anything. I'd be happy with a draw.

I'm now convinced this was a total fluke as any time since he's had a shot it's gone out for a throw-in :pac:

    Didn't mean it obviously :pac:

Looking forward to what should be an entertaining contest, these games usually are. What a turnaround by Newcastle from the team we saw getting obliterated by city earlier in the season. In fairness, Arsenal suffered a similar fate at the ethiad! Anyways, a fair few Newcastle players in really good form, remy, kebab and debuchy being stand outs for me, it's going to be a tough game for the Arsenal, but I reckon that since Newcastle actually play football we stand a fair chance of getting the crucial three points.
    Cazorla to score.

Really have to win games like this. I think Newcastle will play for the win, which will suit us, and we'll get a good win. I expect Walcott and Ozil (if he starts) to link up very effectively in this one.

Tomorrow will be exactly one year since this:

    Krul

    Debuchy --- Williamson --- Coloccini --- Santon

    Sissoko --- Cabaye --- Tiote --- Gouffran

    Ben Arfa

    Remy

That'd be my line up tomorrow.

I've no idea who that is or if I should feel offended by that!

I honestly think Newcastle will win well tomorrow.

Remember pardew had a rant about the amount of arsenal s French players.

Hah don't remember that but don't take him to seriously either when he opens his mouth!

I'm actually looking forward to this game more than almost any this season. Has the makings of a class game.

Can see plenty of goals in this 2-2 or 2-3 victory to the Arsenal

Newcastle are playing well and I feel they will continue that tomorrow is all. Could be wrong though!!!

Think we'll be doing well to draw tbh. Lot of things went our way against Stoke and Southampton caused us a lot of problems.

Arsenal will win this game 3 -- 1.
    Walcott first goal.

What minute you think he'll get the first goal? :pac:

It's rather funny that, because - no word of a lie - I was looking at the odds for Newcastle 3-1 on Oddschecker a couple of days ago, 33/1 they were at and was tempted to put a bit on it! :pac:

Honestly think we have a good chance of beating them, just have to make sure we get at them early! Goals in this game for sure -- midfield battle is crucial.

I hope Anita is a starter again, could be the difference in thwarting Arsenal in the final third.

    HTL.

Giroud to come good again and score a brace! 0-4 Arsenal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 366 ✭✭ugsparky

Tough game - but apparently we have the thugs to handle tough games - - if we can use Theo's speed we can get through Newcastle's defence, so I'm hoping Santi/Ozil see plenty of the ball and set up a few through balls - I'd love to see Podolski starting at centre forward just to see if himself and Ozil will click, but I expect Giroud to start - he looks fatigued at this stage - so my team would be:
    Szcz
    Sagna Merts TV5 Gibbs
Theo Flam or Rosicky Arteta Santi Ozil
    Podolski

Deliberately picked a small midfield combo as I believe "small man syndrome" will always overcome "goliath stomp on them syndrome" ...

lots of places saying ozil didnt travel and will be rested, might see santi down the middle though so that would be brilliant

Newcastle: Krul; Debuchy, Coloccini (c), Williamson, Santon; Anita, Tiote, Cabaye; Sissoko, Remy, Gouffran
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Flamini, Rosicky, Wilshere, Walcott, Cazorla, Giroud

Ozil not on the bench - has a slight shoulder injury. And Vermaelen is sick aquarium

Jenks, Ryo, Gnabry, Podolski, Bendtner and Fabianski on bench.

Bench looks pretty weak from a defensive perspective.

That's the weakest bench we've had in a long time. The only one I'd consider anything like a game changer is Podolski.

Think Gnabry has always looked pretty dangerous when he's played.

i rate Gnabry as one too, very good player with pace to go at tired defenders with 15 minutes left if needs be.

True, imagine we didn't have the strong midfield in depth we have, we would be ****ed.

Yeah we could but wont, he is waiting until the summer to decide where to go so we wont get him, he will get much bigger wages at 90% of league clubs

He has a big criminal case in the new year, no point spending 12m+ on him until it's resolved

Walcott hasn't really had a sniff yet.

    Wilshere playing well though.

New castle look dangerous on the counter attack but overall I think arsenal will win

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Ref happy to let the game run when Arsenal tackled not so much the other way around, maybe it's the crowd he's reacting too

wouldnt agree with that at all hasnt blown alot for both sides, kinda worried a referee decision will have an effect on this game

Sagna playing well, Cabaye in way to much space there.

Looks like newcastle are targeting gibbs ,all their attacks have come down their right side.

    Wilshere playing very well.
