Finding a kitten!

    Hi there,
I've been trying to get a kitten for about five months now and they've proven hard to get! I always thought cats would be easy enough to come across! I'd love to adopt one but at this stage I'd like to just be able to bring my new family member home. We were set on getting on from Kildare and got a text yesterday that the woman gave it away to someone else so we're back to square one :( I've tried every site there is! I'm going off my head haha! does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for your time :)

Are you going through rescue or private ad's? Have you tried local vets?

Follow your locL RSPCA on Facebook. I've seen loads up in ours in the last 5 months!

Agree with this. They don't always list each individual animal on their websites, so I'd say just go there during their opening hours and have a look around.

Also follow any vets near you if they have FB pages - our vets always seem to have kittens on their page!

One particular rescue in the Louth area has kittens coming out of their ears, so definitely try your local - a lot of mama cats who were expecting would have been fostered out over Xmas!

What age kitten are you looking for? You'll rarely find teeny-weeny eight week olds for adoption at this time of year as the breeding season tapered off over the autumn and (thankfully!) doesn't crank up again until the spring! Plenty of older kittens in rescue looking for homes though that get overlooked. Good rescues won't be keen to rehome kittens that young singly, but would be happy to adopt out an older kitten on its own if it'll have company.

local vet has an older-ish kitten, they were trying to home. Pm me for their number if you want.
    He's a really friendly tabby!

Like others have said vets will often have kittens.

Though, does it have to be a kitten? plenty of older cats needing homes. You'll know their temperament right away(rather than playful kitten mellowing out/or not some cats stay playful) and they'll already be litter trained ;).

I have three fosters living it up here since August :D born in June so circa 6 months now
    Male tuxedo
Male grey tabby and female white with black blotches all due for neutering in next 10 days wormed, socialised house trained

Also for added bonus fridge trained (opening of fridge door will bring them running):D
Plus kettle trained (no sooner do I flick the switch but they are at the fridge) :P

Added benefit they will not soil your grass but prefer the privacy of bushes (my grass is now effectively a pond they won't even walk on it)

Op where are you based? I'm fostering 2 kittens for a dublin based rescue. They're just 7 weeks old and will be going back to the rescue next week, where they will be put up for adoption. Let me know if you're interested!

OP, the rescue I volunteer with has 2 kittens (siblings) available to go right now. Tabbies. About 12 weeks old. Seriously cute. One has found a home, the second is available. We are near Naas. PM me if interested.

Always see ads for people giving away kittens on noticeboards in supermarkets too.
