Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In the middle of re-watching Star Wars and the more I think about it, the more I'm dumbfounded that Mark Hamil managed to be cast as Luke Skywalker. Truly atrocious actor and face could curdle milk, IMO. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN????

He was in a traffic accident between the first two films.

Atrocious actor? His is the best version of The Joker.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 46,938 ✭✭✭✭Nodin

Yer man that was cast as Apollo in the remake of Battlestar Galatica was weak in comparison to the Starbuck character. Terrible mismatch.

Benecio Del Toro in "The Wolfman".....

    Keanu Reeves in Coppola's "Dracula"

A famous one is John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

Aye. Somebody should give him a go on the big screen with that.

The actress that has been chosen to play Wonderwoman in the next film.

I know it hasn't been filmed yet but physically she is a poor choice.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,339 ✭✭✭Artful_Badger

Colin Farrell as Alexander the Great.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Bryan Cranston was totally miscast as Walter White. Atrocious acting job he put in.

James Gandolfini was a joke as Tony Soprano. A joke.

Robert de Niro couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag and ruined films like The Godfather Part II, Heat, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and Taxi Driver.

Al Pacino is pedestrian at best. The Godfather would have been better off without him. Both he and de Niro destroyed Heat.

    ;) not really......

Colin Farrell as Alexander the Great.

I was warned off that one, but he wasn't mentioned specifically as one of the reasons it didn't work. Yer man that did the warning watched 3 versions in the hope they'd get it right, to apparently no avail.

    That's bosom snobbery that is.

Reese Witherspoon in Walk The Line. She looks nothing like June Carter Cash. I could possibly overlook that if she was a good actress but she's terrible.

Gerard Butler in PS I love you.

It's so bad that it's good.

Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. He's just a bad actor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭Sofaspud

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, whoever cast him obviously never read any of the books, or even a synopsis.

+10000 lightyears (albeit a measure of distance and not acting acuteness).

Hayden Christiensen is the obvious one alright. Aside from being a pretty piss poor actor he just didn't look the part.

I thought the "bad guy" in Rocky Balboa was terribly miscast. He looked about 40lbs too light to be a heavy weight and didn't look like some bad ass boxing champion like Carl Weathers did. I seem to remember the guy who played him is actually a boxer though.

    Hugh Jackman in everything

I said the same thing, but then found out that Cruise more or less cast himself in the role.

It was his company that bought the movie rights to Jack Reacher.

That was Antonio Tarver, I'm pretty sure he was light heavyweight champion of the world at the time.

Denise Richards in The World is Not Enough.

Completely unconvincing as a supposed highly intelligent character.

Sean Connery didn't even bother trying in the untouchables.

But that accent, love it to bits. And she makes for a bit of eye candy as well :)

Yeah but that wasn't really an Irish accent. As the line in the film goes..

American actors usually struggle when asked to do an Irish accent. It's like they try too hard.

Andy McDowell in Groundhog Day. She ruins what is an otherwise perfect film.

tommy lee jones as twoface in batman forever was awful casting, as was val kilmer

Russell Crowe in Les Mis. Good actor and a convincing Javert, but when he opened his mouth to sing, he sounded like a foghorn.

Andy McDowell is probably one of the finest and graceful actresses to grace any screen in the last 150 years.

To say that she was miscast in a film which was probably the pinnacle of cinema is simply wrong.

And she was excellent in Groundhog Day aswell.

She was brutal in Four Weddings & a Funeral. "Is it raining? I hadn't noticed" BARF!

And she was stilted and wooden in Groundhog Day.

Every single person in the tv shows Arrow and Sinbad. Of course the ads made them out to be the greatest tv shows ever but they are unbearable. I've pooed things that could act better.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,106 ✭✭✭catallus

"is it raining? I hadn't noticed" is probably one of the best lines to be uttered by any actor of the stage/screen in about 200 years, apart from anything in Under Siege or Under Siege 2 Dark Territory.

This is going to sound psychotic, but....

In general whenever I do a Google search of inexplicable casting choices in Hollywood, I nearly always discover the actor/actress in question is of Jewish extraction.

Examples of actors Hollywood is inexplicably trying to manufacture into "stars" by giving them every decent role going:
    Jonah Hill
    Shia Lebouf
This new Wonderwoman actress, among others

Seems a popular career for those of the Jewish faith. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/dec/19/opinion/oe-stein19

He looks like an ironing board with a massive nose. What the hell were they thinking? Every character in Predator was brilliant.
Best line of the film, Mac to Dillon
"You're ghosting us muthafcuka, I don't care who are back in the world, you give up our position one more time, I'll bleed you, real quiet, leave ye here. Got that"

Popular opinion, BUT while Christensen is a mediocre actor at best he was handed one of the worst written roles in a major Hollywood movie ever. Nobody could have done anything with that character; the part is un-miscastable 'cause there's no such thing as good casting for such a poor part.
