Can anyone suggest where I can buy locally large amount of unprocessed wool, about 90 kg.
Also I am interested in small amounts of alpaca wool. If you know a farmer who has nothing to do with his wool, please pass on the details. Thanks

I don't know, I am not a farmer and of course others will reply but if this may help.

(I am from and living in Kerry, so the following is just from memory)

    Lets Brainstorm ! :

    [ County Galway ] galway-logo_normal.gif
    [+] Cities/Towns:
    • - Galway
    • - Tuam
    • - Oranmore.
    • - etc.
OK now, in Galway & Tuam you may remember any farmer markets or farmer areas.
e.g: In Tuam, there's a farmers area/market near the dentist.

    What to do?:
e.g: If people do not reply to you on this thread then you may do the following:
Think of the town/Galway your closest to. Q: Are there any farmer markets or areas?.
What to do from there?, Make your way to that area/market.

    And follow up from there.

In general, this post is just meant to help you if no one else replies, but they will.
I wish you all the best in finding the wool, and lets remember here; towns and cities -> Farmers Markets -> People -> Ask - >etc ...

You can also Google around, look on Google maps, to see your area, maps , etc , etc.

    Hi there,
I'm sure you can find what you're looking for all over in Connemara, where the wool of Blackface hasn't a use for processing (not worth it). Have a look at this link: http://www.maamcrossmart.com/. Every Saturday there's a big gathering of breeders. (mainly sheep breeders).
Also you can try Tom Nee (link http://www.killarysheepfarm.com) and Joe Joyce http://www.joycecountrysheepdogs.ie; they generally shears sheep for demonstration to tourists...maybe they can help you or give you better information.
